changedWe’re beginning preparations for our upcoming Major Update in April. To ensure things go smoothly, and to give back to our Protectors for all of your support, today we’re launching a Beta version of this update, so you can experience Doctor Wolf’s second battle phase in advance!
changedIf you’d like to join in, head to the bottom of this article to find our Beta code and get ready to get your hooves dirty
addedDuring this new Beta period, feedback from our Protectors is vital, and we’ll continue to optimise many areas of Phase 2, including controls, difficulty, performance and combat visibility, as well as overall visual effects. This is also an opportunity for you Protectors to have an impact on Ovis Loop, and let us know how you feel about this new battle.
fixedWe’ve added a significant amount of new mechanisms for Phase 2, so do bear in mind that there may be some unexpected errors, and we’ll continue to work with our Protectors to get these resolved and optimised during the Beta test.
addedAmong this new content, we’re including mechanisms which directly affect the combat experience, including full-screen area of effect attacks and power contest mechanics. As these all-new systems are just being implemented and adjusted, launching in Beta allows us to make sure that the flow and feel of combat is enhanced, powered by your feedback.
addedDuring initial designs, we had originally planned to only deliver minor tweaks to Doctor Wolf’s design, with some slight Manium infection underneath his mask. However, while implementing this design, it quickly became clear that this would only give minimal changes, and wouldn’t deliver the exciting experience we wanted. So instead, our original plans were thrown out, to make way for a new, evolved and upgraded super-size Doctor Wolf - making him the largest of our current boss enemies.

This new version is partially completed, though we have been undertaking in-depth trials and changes. We hope that with your help, this Beta test will allow us to polish a bolder and more impactful Phase 2.

Special Note - Unlocking Phase 2

Due to the changes in design direction, Doctor Wolf’s overall challenge has had to be increased. Because of this, Phase 2 will not appear during the first clear, and only in subsequent playthroughs - This means that Phase 2 will only appear the SECOND time you defeat Doctor Wolf.

Our purpose for this is to provide a more challenging combat experience for our stalwart Protectors, without placing excessive pressure on those jumping in to protect the flock for the first time.

In addition - the Beta does not include related story and ending content - which will only come in the official non-Beta update, to provide a more complete experience, and reduce spoilers for those who’d like to help with testing.

We expect the Beta test to last roughly one week, with potential updates and adjustments during this period, so jump in and get your hooves dirty, now!
