This week, we’ve reached 2,000 levels played! That’s a huge milestone, and we want to thank all of you for giving the demo a try. It motivates us to keep working hard to deliver the best possible experience while preserving the features you loved in the demo. Let’s dive into what’s coming with the full release in September!

Online & Solo Modes

Our first mission is to introduce online multiplayer, while still keeping local play. This means you’ll be able to connect with up to three friends around the world, or play locally by connecting four controllers or keyboards to the same computer. We do want to point out that local and online modes can not be combined simultaneously.

We are also adding a brand-new solo mode, allowing you to complete every level on your own.

Customer Redesign

Customers are at the heart of our gameplay and they deserve special attention. We’re giving them a complete overhaul, both in mechanics and visuals. Each new customer will now introduce fresh challenges. Get ready to deal with the ever-angry fashionista screaming through your store, or prevent wild kids from throwing your items everywhere.

New Environments and Unique Events

With new levels making their way through the release, we’re dividing the progression through four worlds: the Mall, the Farm, the City and the Beach.

Each world features unique visuals, food types and unlockable cosmetics. But that’s not all! Each one also includes a world-specific event that will shake up the gameplay! Fend off a horde of seagulls, or dodge a Martian’s tractor beam… all while keeping your store clean and welcoming.

Customization and progression

New worlds mean new customization options! We’re adding around 80 cosmetic items to the game, including hairstyles, hats, body accessories and delightfully weird heads.

All those skins come with a brand-new way of unlocking them, divided in two parts :

  1. Earn stars by completing levels: every 3 stars unlocks a cosmetic.

  2. Beat a level with the highest score to unlock an additional cosmetic.

Whether you prefer a chill pace or a big challenge, you’ll always earn something for your dedication!

New Store Mechanics

We’re introducing two new mechanics to bring even more variety… and chaos: the self-checkout machine and the movable aisles.

Self-checkouts let customers pay on their own. But keep an eye on them: they might break down and need a quick intervention before the customer loses patience.

Movable aisles periodically shift around the store, forcing you to adapt your strategy in real time. They can create new pathways or block existing ones, dynamically changing the layout.

Accessibility

Finally, we’re dedicating time and care to the accessibility features, so as many people as possible can enjoy Out of Stock! in the best conditions.

A detailed devlog will come later, but here’s a quick preview of what we’re planning: Colorblind-friendly palettes, high-contrast mode, input remapping, font and language customization, UI noise reduction, and more.

That’s it for this roadmap! We hope you’re as excited as we are for what’s coming next. We can't wait to hear what you think of these new features, so don't hesitate to leave a comment!
