Fellow Dwarves!
Today we celebrate 1 year of Orebound! Where do we begin? Firstly, where is the update to celebrate?! Well… We have a massive one planned, Anvil Update 3. Which will be one of the largest to date for Orebound. But it has been delayed until the 12th of November for 3 main reasons.
There's tonnes of changes and additional content coming to the game.
We want to fix a lot of pre-existing quality of life issues people have been experiencing with the game.
We want to take the time to make sure it's right!
This year for Orebound has been all about fixing up the game to get it into a better state for year two. We’ve listened to so much feedback from our fellow Dwarves and we’re trying to implement as much of it as we can. Many of these changes are issues with systems that need polish or fixing up in various ways. So before starting with the huge content updates we have planned, we want to clean up the smaller annoyances for players as best as we can.
There is a long list of issues that need resolving, so we’re going to make sure that we’re happy with those being resolved before we launch this next update.
However, today we can share a sneak preview of what will be coming in Anvil Update 3.
The Deepseeker
This will be the flagship content piece of the next update and will serve as a new long-term objective in game. It will intertwine with the Three Brothers Quest, and with progressive upgrade’s guide you towards unlocking the Three Tombs and reforging the Runic Gem of Thandor.
The Deepseeker will function beyond just the Three Brother’s quest too. Soon we will be able to reveal what comes after, and what lies even deeper beneath the earth…
Ranged Weapons
Yes that's right, it’s time for pew pews. Anvil Update 3 will contain a Crossbow with various bolt types and a Pistol and Blunderbuss to also go hunting with. This will mark the first step towards doing a grander combat update and will pave the way to even more weapons, armour and enemies to come…
Explosive Goblins.
These little boomies have a timed fuse on their backs for extra in-game spice. You’ll have to kill them before they blow up in front of you! Best to use the new ranged weapons for this though…
Overhauled Building System
We have changed the build system to an entirely different method of placement detection that we’re hoping will be a massive improvement to the game. Orebound has a ton of opportunities for incredible fortress building, and with these changes we hope to enable you to create even more amazing structures.
Redesigned Hunger System
Rather than just being a stat bar to manage, the hunger system will be reworked into a much more enjoyable gameplay experience with incentive to progress and unlock the best food available to you!
Hunger will now drain based on a variety of player actions rather than a static depletion.
Fullness is a new stat introduced to the game which will provide you with a barrier to hunger drain & new buffs depending on its level.
Food items will restore more hunger now and come with a unique fullness number
Food items will also come with a unique passive buff, depending on the quality of the food item, the better the buff
