changedAs you can probably tell, I didn’t get to release the demo at the last Steam Next Fest. I had just finished a large testing session and was not happy with the results. Much of the game mechanics and systems were working but the overall gameplay felt flat. Plus I was not happy with some of the lower quality textures. So, after some reflection, I decided on 3 big changes:
addedChanging to the Unity URP render pipeline. This has resulted in a major improvement to the graphics. Though it also meant I had to discard much of the existing world graphics and purchase/create new content.
changedCo-op play. The player had both ranged and melee attacks. For Orcs, there were some issues with this arrangement. Depending on the level and enemies, you could be over or under-powered quite easily. In the update, you can play as either a ranged attack or melee player. The co-op gameplay will require both to succeed in the game. There will now be 2 main players : Ava and Anna. It has also meant a rewrite of the story – trust me, it’s a lot more interesting now, more to come soon on this.
addedNew player models. I was having some issues with blonde Ava so now, we have a new character for this model, a more urban look, suited to a modern day bounty hunter.
addedI will have a new gameplay video out soon, showing some of the changes and the demo will be released later in the year. Thanks for supporting Orcs and Outlaws so far – game development isn’t easy, that’s for sure!
