Open Robot changes
Open Robot 0.7.1 has been released and remains playable through the Steam Playtest! Thanks for all your feedback!
Thanks so much to those who joined the ongoing Steam Playtest campaign. As the public demo release approaches, I think it makes sense to close the Steam Playtest. As the publicly available demo version will receive latest development changes. So, soon after releasing the demo, the Steam Playtest will be closed and access will be removed. Thanks so much again!
Open Robot 0.7.1 changelog:
Performance
- Optimizations on general foliage density and culling distances for better performance and general framerate improvement.
- Geometry-dense tree assets replaced with lighter ones.
Music
- Fixes Menu music not always playing when going back to the main menu after playing a game.
- Improves combat music dynamic system by tweaking thresholds for combat intensity.
- When combat intensity is very low, play a song ending, rather than keep fading volume out until zero, relaxing the musical tension, signaling the player combat has finished.
- Adds ability to set combat intensity from quests, so that quests can trigger or stop combat music.
- Deletes unused music assets
Quest
- Moves basic combat tutorial right before the quest where weapons are first time needed.
Foliage
- Removes grass mistakenly growing through the floor at the residential harbour.

The plan
In this release I focused on optimizing the game further, improving general performance. I also focused on combat music making it more responsible and better at signaling to the player what is going on in the game.
