I wanted to let you all know that Open Robot playtest is now playable again! Thanks for all your feedback!
Request Access
Thanks for all the requests I received. For now requesting access is deactivated. So you won't see the "Join the Open Robot Playtest".
But if you managed to get access you can play again the new and improved version.
Open Robot 0.6.10 changelog:
These are the changes from 0.6.9 to 0.6.10
Story Mode
- New big wacky battle at the end of the demo story mode.
- Small dialogue script tweaks, polishing character tone and style.
- Rogue Robots quest to 5 robots for now, as it is a bit repetitive and boring. The idea of the quest is to be an easy fight quest to learn the weapons.
- Fixed a couple of typos in the Rogue Robots quest.
Tutorials
- Improved the basic car driving tutorial to make more sense in terms of order of actions. Starting by throttle, then steering, etc.
Improvements to spawning of characters and items.
- General fixes and improvements to avoid the player seeing something spawning out of thin air, even if it was not visible to the player pawn.
- General improvements in terms of spawn location randomization.
- General fixes to avoid some characters spawning inside walls or floors and get trapped there without being able to move.
World Building
- Fixes small placement issues in building windows.
- Adds functional basic lighting to the building interiors.
Menu
- Adds the missing buttons for Wishlist, feedback and go to main menu, to the mission failed widget.
Survivor Mode
- Swaps characters from the house survivor quest.
- Improves the lab quest by making it wackier with many robots at both teams at the same time.
Characters
- Adds a new Loretta soldier.
UI
- Adds a minimap marker to the lab area. So it is easy to identify where player needs to go for the quest.
- Adds centre point to the minimap. Serving as reference to the player position. Other Bugs
- Removes warning on removed grenade ability as an invalid one.

The plan
I would be running multiple short iterations, each one lasting few weeks (3 weeks?), depending on the amount of feedback and implementation needed etc.
I will be focusing on different aspects of the game. Currently working on polishing the demo to make it fun to play.
On/Off ability to play
Please, beware that after receiving feedback I need time to analyse, prioritise and implement, and during this time, playing Open Robot might not be possible. So don't worry, because as soon as I update the game, it will be open again!
