Hi there, Chilman here! Wanted to bring a small update on the plans for the future. As you probably know, the game is still in a very early stage and there will be a lot of work ahead to reach the final shape that we want for Omnimancer, and for that nothing will be more important than time.
How the game started What I imagine not a lot of people will know is that this game was originally developed as a final project for college, it was the final step in getting a degree, and gladly it was very well received and got an above passing grade, the build that was submitted was the First Official Build - Early Access 2.0 and while we had our regrets about things we wish we had not wasted time on or decisions that were not ideal we are still glad that we got to a state that was able to show most of the core of what this game can become.
What we want We have lots of ideas of what features we would like to see on the completed game, so to give you something to wait for here are some of them: Boss fights Permanent progression system NPCs + Storyline Spell combinations We will share more specifics on how we want to implement these and other features, but they are a few of the things that either the game needs to have as a roguelike or that we want to be part of the game's identity.
Community We have not put the needed time into preparing a space for the community yet, but we are working on it. For now you can access the Discord server and chat with us or between yourselves, even if it hasn't been finished yet.
Development ahead Lastly, lets talk about what's coming immediately Right before this post you might have seen an update was pushed, with some changes. As for the next update, things are going to be a bit different. Since the game was being developed under a time crunch, certain shortcuts were taken, both in design and implementation, in order to reach an mvp for our college presentation. Because of this, there are many things that are either partially or completely detrimental to the continued development of the game and the new features to come. So, instead of continuing to build upon this unstable foundation and eventually have to deal with multiple points of failure we are now going to take the time to revise the game, mainly in implementation but also in design, so that we can have a stronger foundation for the future. This will result in the next update to be less noticeable for you the player, since we want to keep the experience mostly the same, but in the background there will be changes in place to allow us to expand the game to much more than it's current state.
Please reach us with any feedback, we appreciate you. Thank you for checking out this wall of text
