OMEA changes
Hi everyone!
Odin's Trial, the free OMEA demo, just got a big update. The voice engine is new, the story keeps better track of the world, turns are faster, and the demo now runs on Steam Deck and Mac. Here's what changed.
Play it on Steam Deck and Mac
OMEA now runs on Steam Deck and on macOS. If you play with a controller, a few things got easier:
L1 / R1 browse the Adventure Library.
L3 / R3 open Info and Story Points.
The right stick scrolls through long answers.
The cursor now stays inside the Settings window.
New voices
We rebuilt the voice engine from scratch. Lines no longer overlap or come out garbled: when someone speaks, you hear one clean voice from the first word to the last. Most of the cast also got new voices along the way, so people you've already met may not sound the way you remember.
Steam post image Improved memory
Memory is the heart of OMEA, and this update tightens it:
The world now keeps track of where you are and what time it is.
No more skipped scenes - every place you travel to gets its own arrival.
The game remembers what you're carrying, and managing it is far less fiddly.
Suggestions no longer leak things your character shouldn't know yet.
Sleeping through the night now works properly.
Dice tests changes
Dice tests no longer spoil themselves; the outcome stays hidden until the roll actually happens (cheers, David!). Refusing a roll no longer hangs the game. Death no longer traps you either: a run that ends now ends cleanly instead of looping back on itself. And the phantom "Problem connecting..." banners that used to appear while the game sat idle are gone.
The story answers faster
Suggestions now send the moment you pick them, which cuts about half a second off every turn. The first line of text also arrives up to half a second sooner. Half a second per turn adds up over an evening on the island.
Look and feel
Your character now gets the same speaking shot as everyone else, so you're part of the scene too. Loading a save restores the scene you left, including who was on screen. Story Point bonus dice now show in gold, and there's new music in the menu and the Adventure Library.
Every fix above is live now, and the demo is still free. If the cold got you before the Beast did, it's a good time for another run - and no two runs end the same way.

The demo runs on the same technology as the full platform, so everything on this list carries forward. The full platform - packed with adventures across genres - is coming soon to Steam. Wishlist OMEA now to be there on day one.
