OEUF CITY
The Oeuf community built a big city map together, many times larger and more open than the base game. I can finish the main game in about an hour, and the new level took me many joyful evenings to play through. Explore, and try to get all the stars (over 200 stars to collect!)! There are parts to discover and enjoy for players of all skill levels!
The quantity and variety of places in this level is not to be underestimated. It has several new kinds of platforming challenges hidden in it. I really really really recommend it. Its difficulty never goes above that of the base game, and you can keep track of collected stars via the pause menu:
The people who built Oeuf City: DoomKitty3000, DrMonkeyLicker, Machka6, Liman1, SabulineHorizon, Terzalo, increpare, Shadowxaf, Zach Daniel, and Gent. It was a wonderful pleasure and a privilege to hang out with ye. :) (Also thanks to other people who popped by and helped out with testing!)
MULTIPLAYER MAP EDITING
Make levels with your friends! It's how Oeuf City was made (and got very well tested and crazily optimized as a result of being used to make such a giant level).
We'll be hosting a multiplayer map editing party tomorrow (Saturday the 6th) - pop by the discord to join in!
IN-GAME STEAM WORKSHOP BROWSER
Players have made such lovely levels that I felt obliged to make it as easy for players to stumble across and find them. I've also started manually tagging levels with difficulty and awarding some my stamp of approval to make it easy for new players to know what levels they might want to check out :)
OTHER CHANGES
The v1.4 has a bazillion bugfixes, optimizations, and mini features
In multiplayer mode, the checkpoint teleport dropdown on the pause screen is restricted to checkpoints you've already visited.
The checkpoint dropdown is now available in custom maps from the pause screen.
New achievements: for playing and completing Workshop Levels, and for collecting 10/25/50/100/all stars in Oeuf City :) (There are over 200 stars! It's really big!)
OPTIMIZATIONS
Optimized shadow rendering to improve steam deck performance.
Extensive optimization of mesh generation - fewer triangles generated for better level performance and faster loading.
EDITOR
Export your level as a 3D model .obj file (CTRL+K)
Grouting tool behaviour improved
Others:
Editor now autosaves your level every 5 minutes.
Lots of logging to hopefully help diagnose network errors that pop up sometimes.
There was a bug with keyboard input where pressing UP and RIGHT at the same time, say, would result in you moving more quickly than just playing UP. That has been fixed. (For speedrunners that liked it, the v1_3 branch is still available on steam).
Also for speedrunners - you can skip the end cutscene with Ctrl+S or Cmd+S
Exploding egg duplication fixed.
Documentation updated.
In the pause menu you can now browse a list of stars if your current level has them.
And lots more small things!
