Meet Larcenest Gap’s shortest man, sporting the town’s tallest hat – Mayor Steppington Marshall!
Mayor Steppington is a descendant of the town’s very first Mayor, who once wrote into the town’s law book that the Marshall family would forever govern Larcenest Gap. This responsibility is something Steppington takes to heart, and the townspeople see him as a true advocate for the community. He works tirelessly to keep the town running smoothly, even though that is rarely a simple task.
The only family Steppington has left is his mother, Gertrude. He lost his father, Conrad, shortly after reaching adulthood, forcing him to take on the responsibilities of Mayor far too early. Though entirely unprepared, he accepted the role without hesitation, determined to be at least as capable as his father before him. Over the years, he has been tested time and time again, carrying the weight of the town through difficult periods like the Great Gnome Rebellion and other crises best left unnamed.
Despite his height, Steppington is a resolute man with a long history in Larcenest Gap. He knows everything there is to know about the town – from the names of every inhabitant to all of its most hidden and beautiful corners. Some wonder if his hat is hiding more than just air. There are rumors that his mind has grown to fill it, prompting the construction of specially designed doors so he never has to remove it when passing through them. Others claim that the truth is much simpler: that he is merely self-conscious about his stature.
Whatever the reason, people love and support their Mayor. Though he keeps his personal life closely guarded and rarely speaks of the true nature of his work, he is respected and admired by all. No one really knows Steppington Marshall as a friend, but everyone knows him as their Mayor.
