addedThe new game build is tested and ready. But even though we REALLY want to press the release button - we literally can't, since the app is still waiting for Steam to approve the final game build. The Steam review process usually takes a 3-5 days, or one week tops. It's been in review for about month now, which is... a lot longer than we could anticipate.
changedWhen we realized there was a chance of a delay, we considered changing the release date before we announced, but too many things were already locked in (be it the trailer we've sent a month in advance, or the steam backend not allowing for a release date change when it's too close to release).

Last week we announced today, October 28th, to be the release date of Nightmare House: The Original Mod on Steam.

We also took the time to give some context on why it might get delayed... and unfortunately we must delay the release.

The new game build is tested and ready. But even though we REALLY want to press the release button - we literally can't, since the app is still waiting for Steam to approve the final game build. The Steam review process usually takes a 3-5 days, or one week tops. It's been in review for about month now, which is... a lot longer than we could anticipate.

When we realized there was a chance of a delay, we considered changing the release date before we announced, but too many things were already locked in (be it the trailer we've sent a month in advance, or the steam backend not allowing for a release date change when it's too close to release).

So with our hands tied, we hoped for the best.

So what happens now?

Now we wait. We hope it will take days, but we honestly don't know.

It's super stressful to not be able to deliver on time despite doing everything by the book and to the best of our ability. But we also remember you guys are extremely supportive and sympathetic. It's been 14 years since this mod first released. It was our first step into game development. And throughout the years it got infinite amounts of love.

In the meantime, you can check out streamers who started playing the new Steam release. Here's one:

For now, we're also using this time to work on localizing the game to support more languages. If you are a translator who wants to help, join our Discord and feel free to ask for more details about it.

We'll keep you posted, and as soon as we get the OK, we'll make sure to release and re-announce it from the rooftops.
