addedTasty Juicy FruitsUsually when we make new stickers, we first make them fun to play with and then create the artwork for them. For the fruits, it worked the other way around as the art inspired our designer to come up with their sticker effects. Like the star fruit sticker should of course give stars!
addedI Wanna Build a RobotWe could make the robot sticker theme a lot better and more fun to play with by making it more token based. There will be 8 new tokens that come along with robot stickers, and most of them will activate when you play cards.
addedI Wanna Build a RobotOur artist had a lot of fun making the art for the new tokens, since we could hint at what the different tokens do by what they look like, while keeping them on the “nuts & bolts” theme. For example, the butterfly screw shape kind of looks like a candy, so we chose that shape for a token that gives candy!
addedI Wanna Build a RobotWe’re also introducing a control playstyle to the sticker type! You’ll want to keep the FEVER multiplier low when playing with robots. Some of the new stickers really benefit from that, one of the new tokens even helps you keep the fever low! There are also some fun interactions with shield tokens with the new tokens, which reinforces the control feel of the sticker theme.

Hi there!

The Coconuts & Bolts is almost here, just a few more days! Let’s take a look at the fruits sticker theme and the reworked robot stickers, which will be coming with the update!

Tasty Juicy Fruits

The fruits sticker theme revolves around completing combos with apple, pear and orange tokens. You can create combos by having either three tokens of the same type or having three different tokens. Completing a combo gives you a temporary card with another fruit sticker, which can lead to more combos!

Usually when we make new stickers, we first make them fun to play with and then create the artwork for them. For the fruits, it worked the other way around as the art inspired our designer to come up with their sticker effects. Like the star fruit sticker should of course give stars!

At first, the combo of three of the same fruits was more rewarding than three different fruits, since it’s harder to get three of the same from a probability perspective. But while playtesting, we noticed that this really incentivized stacking all of the fruit stickers of the same type on one card, so we switched it around. The goal was for the players to play lots and lots of cards and make lots of combos with the sticker theme, after all.

I Wanna Build a Robot

When we started to think about how to expand the existing robot sticker theme, we saw how they could really benefit from redesigning the old ones since they incentivized stacking all robot stickers on one card. Creating huge mega cards is fun, but we didn’t want our players to feel like they would be forced to create one big robot card if they want to use the sticker theme.

We could make the robot sticker theme a lot better and more fun to play with by making it more token based. There will be 8 new tokens that come along with robot stickers, and most of them will activate when you play cards.

Our artist had a lot of fun making the art for the new tokens, since we could hint at what the different tokens do by what they look like, while keeping them on the “nuts & bolts” theme. For example, the butterfly screw shape kind of looks like a candy, so we chose that shape for a token that gives candy!

We’re also introducing a control playstyle to the sticker type! You’ll want to keep the FEVER multiplier low when playing with robots. Some of the new stickers really benefit from that, one of the new tokens even helps you keep the fever low! There are also some fun interactions with shield tokens with the new tokens, which reinforces the control feel of the sticker theme.

We hope you have fun with both of these sticker themes, which will be arriving on May 4th! May the fruits and bolts be with you!
