addedChallenge Challenging Challenge BossesIn the new update, you will be able to save your deck that you built when you finish a run. You can then use that deck to try and defeat challenge bosses! You might want to plan ahead and build your deck in a way that works well with the challenge boss, since most of them are very very difficult.
changedChallenge Challenging Challenge BossesChallenge bosses will get unlocked after you win the Awesomest Super Card Tournament for the first time. Now, you might wonder what the challenge bosses are like, here are some examples!
addedSleepy Sloth LeonardoSleepy Sloth Leonardo challenges you with a brand-new deck! This boss poses some restrictions on your deck: some stickers are banned, and holographic and golden stickers are banned as well. If you have banned stickers in your deck, they will be changed into banana peel stickers before the card battle starts. For this challenge, we really thought what kind of limits Leonardo would put on the player, so that was quite fun!
changedAwesomest Super Card Tournament DaydreamThe “Awesomest Super Card Tournament Daydream” allows you to play through the final three bosses with one of your saved decks. Previously, you couldn’t play with the deck you’ve built after you finished a run, which was kind of a shame if you really liked what you made and wanted to play around with it more. This challenge is there just for that! It isn’t as difficult as the other challenge bosses, and you can also play around with fun what-if scenarios, like if you’ve ever wondered if you could have beaten the final tournament on hard difficult with a deck you built in relaxed difficulty.
changedChallenging DesignThe idea to make Challenge Bosses came from us wanting to give players a chance to take on more difficult opponents. We could make the bosses extra challenging and give them specific playstyles and decks without needing to worry these bosses disrupting the overall difficulty of the game, since they are separated from the three week long runs in the main game mode.

Challenge Challenging Challenge Bosses

In the new update, you will be able to save your deck that you built when you finish a run. You can then use that deck to try and defeat challenge bosses! You might want to plan ahead and build your deck in a way that works well with the challenge boss, since most of them are very very difficult.

Challenge bosses will get unlocked after you win the Awesomest Super Card Tournament for the first time. Now, you might wonder what the challenge bosses are like, here are some examples!

Sleepy Sloth Leonardo

Sleepy Sloth Leonardo challenges you with a brand-new deck! This boss poses some restrictions on your deck: some stickers are banned, and holographic and golden stickers are banned as well. If you have banned stickers in your deck, they will be changed into banana peel stickers before the card battle starts. Challenging Design

The idea to make Challenge Bosses came from us wanting to give players a chance to take on more difficult opponents. We could make the bosses extra challenging and give them specific playstyles and decks without needing to worry these bosses disrupting the overall difficulty of the game, since they are separated from the three week long runs in the main game mode.

From a design perspective, it was quite challenging to make these bosses. The decks that players can create in the game can be super powerful, so making the bosses difficult enough but not excessively difficult was like walking a fine line. We didn’t want all the challenge bosses to be defeated with just one deck either, and we had to think about how to prevent infinite decks or huge mega-cards from destroying all the bosses. The special rules we put in place for the challenge bosses really helped us with those concerns!

We also plan to add new challenge bosses in future content updates. If you have a fun idea for a challenge boss you’d like to see, let us know! That’s all for this week’s diary entry, look forward to next week when we’ll have an exciting announcement for you!

See you on the playground!
