MuseSwipr changes
v1.3.0 Song Loading Overhaul, Indonesian Localisation Update, and Bug Fixes
Steam post image Mappack Unpacking System (Song Selection Performance Update!)
We've completely re-engineered how MuseSwipr loads songs! This is a behind-the-scenes/technical overhaul that should make the song selection experience much smoother. Steam post image
For returning players - when maps are loaded for the first time, the game will "upack" the mappack so that in the future, scrolling past it and selecting/loading it will be much faster (it'll basically generate a thumbnail and a 30s audio preview, as well as gameplay data).
Bulk migration - Press Ctrl+Shift+U in song selection to migrate all your existing maps to the new format at once (optional, but recommended for best performance! Otherwise, mappacks will slowly be migrated as you play/click on them in song select). Depending on your library size and computer, this may take awhile! As a rough estimate, ~300 maps took 7 minutes.
Note: Bulk migration only works with "V2" maps. Older V1 maps will be unpacked as you click/play on them due to technical issues. Steam post image
Other Improvements
Per-difficulty images - Maps with different images per difficulty now show the correct image for each difficulty in song select (once unpacked)
Prepping for the future - This is a huuuge (technical) step towards making the song select experience better and the eventual song select overhaul we want to do in the future.
Steam post image Steam Workshop Importing Improvements
Consolidated progress panel - Improved the bulk importing experience of Steam workshop items. No more spam of notifications (and way less FPS drops)! Instead, it'll show in a nice lil progress panel.
Checkpoint saves - Importing progress is now saved periodically, so if the game crashes, or you quit mid-import, you won't lose progress on the imported maps when you next launch the game.
Steam post image Bug Fixes
Importing new maps from the Steam workshop should properly update the difficulty visually without needing to click on it first
Steam post image Localisation Updates
Updated the Indonesian localisation - massive thanks to handofmyths for updating it!
Known Issues
Some maps (mainly v1 maps) may not show the correct difficulty when loaded.
Difficulty of v1 maps does not update with speed changes.
Sometimes importing Steam maps might randomly fail. You can retry these by pressing "F5" or unsubscribing from the Steam workshop item, and then resubscribing (and maybe pressing F5/restarting the game). If it still does not work, you can verify the integrity of MuseSwipr's files through Steam.
Steam post image What We're Working on Next
More new built-in songs an new mechanics!
Song select showing collapsed mappacks instead of every map within it at once
DX12 support (no promises, but we're trying!) - DX12 can help with performance but can have unexpected behaviour. If you want to try it yourself, use [c]-force-d3d12 -screen-fullscreen 1[/c] in Steams launch options. Huge thanks to Veii for testing with DX12 on MuseSwipr.
Many more things!
