Movies Tycoon changes
After a few months of hard work, we’re excited to bring you our biggest update yet! This massive release has something interesting for everyone.
Here’s a breakdown of all the new fixes, improvements, and content:
Performance Improvements
In this update, we’ve significantly boosted game performance by reducing system load across the board. Depending on your hardware and in-game content, you can expect anywhere from a 50% to 100% increase in FPS. This is especially noticeable on low and mid-range devices, where improvements reach up to 100%. High-end systems still see a solid 50% boost. We’ve also reduced RAM and VRAM usage by around 1.5GB each.
In case you were wondering how we did that:
Rebuilt our character customization system from scratch, making it more efficient than the engine’s solution.
Reduced the number of animations for off-screen characters.
Optimized gameplay simulations.
Tweaked engine settings for better performance specific to our project.
We’re quite happy with overall FPS performance now, though we’re still working on fixing some remaining stuttering issues in the coming weeks.
Improved Character Visuals
While reworking the character system, we also upgraded their visuals! Surface and contour shading is now far more accurate and realistic. Be sure to take advantage of the extended slider ranges by holding the CTRL key. Go wild with it!
New Thumbnails
We’ve redesigned the character thumbnail panel for improved visuals and performance. It now supports continuous animation when interacted with.
In-Studio Custom Movies
We’ve reintegrated the movie editor into the base tycoon game! Creating your own movies during regular gameplay is now easier than ever. Every scriptwriter building now has a button that launches the movie editor with your game movie preloaded. Once you’re done, just return to the tycoon game and continue playing with your custom film.
New AI Feature!
To make movie creation even easier, we’ve added an AI panel to the movie editor. You can now have the AI generate a movie for you! Just pick the genre, theme, and size, then describe your idea—and the AI will create a movie in seconds.
Personally, I’ve spent way too much time reading through hilarious AI-generated mashups of movies, series, and video games—even before we made this game. We’ll be expanding the AI features in this panel over time, so stay tuned!
New DLC!
The community voted—and we listened! Tomorrow we are releasing the most popular request for our first content expansion: Dawn of Cinema.

We’ll have a separate post with full details, so be sure to check it out! Also, don’t forget to visit our public roadmap where you can vote on the next content expansion!
What’s Next? Community Sharing!
While we packed a lot into this update, one major feature had to be postponed for version 2.2: Community Content Sharing. Originally, we planned to integrate with Steam Workshop, but instead, we’ve decided to build a native in-game sharing platform that will work across all platforms—not just Steam.
Coming soon in the 2.2 update, you’ll be able to share your custom characters and movies with friends and the wider community!
And that’s not all...
To sweeten the deal, after launching the community content update, we’ll be hosting monthly movie-making competitions! You’ll be able to submit and rate films, and at the end of each month, we’ll pick the top-rated entries and award prizes. Details coming soon!
There are a bunch of smaller improvements we didn’t mention here, but we’ve covered the most important stuff.
