MotorCubs RC changes
Hey everyone, here's some updates on what has changed with MotorCubs RC since early December. Online multiplayer lobbies work, and online gameplay is being chipped away behind the scenes. We expect to make that mode public within the next month!
Network and Multiplayer Improvements (hidden for public builds):
Switched to using NetworkRigidbody3Ds for all car models for better multiplayer synchronization.
Human players can now drive in multiplayer mode.
Significant work on multiplayer stability, including reducing lightmap sizes to prevent network drops.
Lighting and Visual Enhancements:
New lighting bake for the Cave Dweller level with updated light settings.
Reduction in lightmap sizes across various levels to optimize performance (e.g., Charles Run, Game of Thorns, Guttural Crack).
Added and adjusted reflection probes in Cave Dweller.
Physics and Vehicle Mechanics:
Updated control values for specific vehicles like Patriot Oxide, adjusting speed, steering, and jump impulse.
Fixed and optimized physics-related issues, including impact particles, terrain interaction, and vehicle respawn mechanics.
Added new explosion prefabs and adjusted explosive forces for vehicles.
Vehicles now split into multiple pieces after dying if another car drives through them.
UI and User Experience:
Numerous updates to the user interface, including race UI, lobby navigation, and menu screens.
Added features like nametags, boost gauges, and improved online lobby management.
Players can vote for Level A, Level B, or Random level in a lobby.
Implemented new sounds for vehicle interactions and environment detection.
Gameplay and Scene Management:
Fixed scene loading and level transitions, ensuring all levels load correctly in multiplayer via Photon.
Updated car spawning mechanisms, ensuring vehicles start at the correct position.
Enhanced gameplay mechanics like jumping, steering, and skid physics.
Tire skids are visible from Balanced quality mode upward.
Performance and Bug Fixes:
Optimized camera settings, collider behaviors, and UI navigation for smoother gameplay and menu interaction.
Fixed numerous bugs related to vehicle models, track selection, and player inputs.
Added and updated scripts for various game mechanics like car destruction, UI responsiveness, and player management.
