Modern Warships changes
Commanders! It is already March 2026, and in Modern Warships we are introducing the Update 0.102 “Future Edge”. In it, you will encounter a whole lineup of new combat units — from cutting-edge warships to the latest aircraft and advanced ship equipment from various countries around the world!
We will take a closer look at all of them in this article.
🛳️ Hovercraft RF Bora (Project 1239)
Country: Russia
Tier: III
Role: Missile hovercraft
Steam post image RF Bora (Project 1239) is a Russian small missile hovercraft designed to protect amphibious formations and engage enemy warships in coastal waters. Ships of this project are the largest in their subclass of air-cushion catamarans. They feature high seaworthiness, a spacious deck, and improved conditions for the crew as well as efficient use of onboard weapon systems.
So what about tactics when playing this little vessel?
As with any other ship, the strategy you choose is limited only by your imagination. Still, let us share a couple of useful tips. First, take a look at the ship’s main gun. The AK-176MA (76 mm) offers a comfortable firing range and automatic target tracking, saving you time and effort when engaging enemies. However, you probably won’t want to fight on the very front line — the ship’s deck-mounted air defense is not entirely useless, but it is unlikely to deal effectively with serious threats such as bombers or large missile swarms. That said, the newcomer is dangerous not only because of its gun. Two dual anti-ship missile slots will make sure the enemy never forgets about your presence, while the RPK-8 (213 mm) launchers will help counter threats from the depths.
So what’s the conclusion? Even though this new Russian hovercraft is not a massive battleship packed with dozens of guns, in the hands of a skilled and daring commander it does not need to be. The combination of its capabilities and weaponry more than compensates for its size. After all, history has shown more than once — the bigger the ship, the more silt it raises from the seabed when it sinks.
🛳️ Cruiser USS Boston (CAG-1)
Country: USA
Tier: III
Role: Heavy artillery cruiser with missile armament
Steam post image USS Boston (CAG-1) is a heavy missile cruiser of the U.S. Navy that has not merely survived the passage of time — it has been truly revitalized. The ship has undergone a second modernization and now looks as if it just left the shipyard. New missile weaponry, modern automatic cannons, advanced air-defense systems… and inside, engineers have significantly improved many systems, even increasing seaworthiness. In short, the ship is back in service and ready to outperform many others.
Just look at this ship’s arsenal — it’s truly impressive! Yes, it still carries the classic artillery guns typical of mid-20th-century cruisers, but they are now complemented by a solid set of modern weapons. Multi-purpose autocannons and numerous air-defense positions allow it to withstand even serious missile or air attacks. Think that two grenade launchers and a triple missile battery might be too little for a battle? Combine them properly with the ship’s powerful artillery and the story changes. Any opponent encountering such a vessel risks not only sinking, but at the very least suffering damage so severe that it will take a long time to repair in a safe harbor.
So what’s the verdict? USS Boston (CAG-1) is a classic example of old-school shipbuilding that has not lost its relevance. Thanks to its updated arsenal, it can still proudly serve alongside modern destroyers and frigates.
🛳️ Submarine Pan Spatial Nautilos
Designer: Pan Spatial
Tier: III
Role: Advanced high-tech submarine
Steam post image Pan Spatial Nautilos is an experimental multi-role submarine featuring stealth technologies. Limited oxygen reserves are compensated by an advanced propulsion system that increases overall speed and maneuverability while also providing faster acceleration. The onboard arsenal includes numerous missiles and torpedoes, as well as special submarine-launched ballistic missiles designed for precise long-range strikes.
Unlike most of its counterparts, this new submarine stands out for its exceptional versatility in combat strategy — largely thanks to its diverse arsenal. You can choose a playstyle that best matches your mood and tactical plan. For example, you may prefer a relaxed long-range approach: methodically launching ballistic missiles at enemies who struggle to respond quickly to the threat. This minimizes risks and allows you to control the battle from afar.
On the other hand, you can opt for a far more dynamic and risky playstyle. This involves active engagements at relatively close range, where the rest of your weaponry comes into play. Such tactics require quick reactions, precise maneuvering, and strong situational awareness — but they also allow you to put serious pressure on opponents and seize the initiative during the most intense moments of battle.
So what’s the conclusion? Pan Spatial Nautilos feels comfortable even in the hands of a newcomer, while under the control of an experienced commander it becomes a true threat to the enemy team. This submarine will be a great addition to any fleet collection — and it’s unlikely to gather dust in port. Wait a second… it even has a tail!
