Full Release Notes
New Stuff
New In-Game Tutorials - 6 of them to start. More coming later! Lots to learn which will hopefully help make it easier to make mixes for a lot of folks!
New Contextual Hint Display - now in the lower left it will try and tell you what buttons to press during certain interactions. This needs to be filled out a bit more, but is very helpful on controller. Can toggle it off in gameplay settings.
New Activator Ring Nodes - Considered experimental, but rather playable still. New demo mix in the included mixes has them setup in a fun way (In the video above)
New Layer edit panel. Entirely refactored and allows up to 32 layers now.
New Community tab for mixes which show the latest 50 uploaded mixes to the workshop.
New Ability to walk, run, and jump (Double jump to go back into flight mode!)
New Animations in flight mode when boosting
New Painting nodes by clicking and dragging during placement
Workshop mixes notify the discord server when uploading to public to help visibility and notify people who might be interested in seeing what's new!
New Beach environment!
New when starting a new mix, there will be an auto-generated one to play with instead of just a blank canvas. You can easily delete by clicking and dragging to select.
New Headquarters for you to choose what to do next
New Added back a simple form of grid snapping.
New You can now load mixes from the headquarters.
New customize character color! Will keep adding to this!
New ability to make patterns by clicking and dragging links to nodes.
New volume control on a sound instead of having to use an FX element.
Bug fixes and stability
Fixed Steam input only working the first time for the steamdeck.
Quite a few stability fixes with audio playback. Mixes shouldn't skip nodes or have delayed audio on nodes now.
Improved performance of audio playback. Should be able to handle more nodes.
Improved performance of gathering nodes which is used by modulators, radar nodes, and certain visualizers.
Fixed Voxel Memory for landmass nodes when placing lots of them. Should max out at around 1gb of added memory now instead of 8-12gb
Fixed issues when moving nodes around for height detection. Now it will never go lower than the node's original starting height position but will go higher if moving over landmasses.
Fixed Activators sometimes not playing when set looping value to 1.
Fixed many issues with gamepad where input could get stuck or un-usable. Should be mostly stable now. There might be a few interactions with dragging elements that will get stuck on hover, but nothing that has been consistently reproable yet.
Fixed default performance settings so that it can be more compatible with more machines.
Fixed steamdeck's default performance settings.
Fixed tool tips not refreshing sometimes.
Fixed tool tips not displaying the text version of their values (When hovering over the video options menu items is for example)
Fixed issue where main menu fails to load.
Fixed issue when placing nodes on landmasses, they would sometimes go through.
Midi input now should work. In settings, pick your midi device and then click a node to start sending midi to it.
New Free Demo
Has a limited play area.
When loading a saved mix in the demo, you cannot edit it anymore. Can if you purchase the full game.
Character customization is locked
Layer switching is locked
Certain nodes, FX, and instruments are locked
You can place as many nodes as you'd like.
Most tutorials included.
What is next?
So now that the event system is in and tutorials are functional, I will be doing a decent bug fixing pass for some of the more jarring known issues. After the bug fixing pass, I can start moving on to a few QoL things for the game.
2 Next Big things are.
Updating the display of saves so that its much easier to see information about a mix and also make it easier to edit and upload to the workshop. This would also come with the workshop tutorial.
Modulation Update. (The mix playlists is getting moved to after the modulation update since this update will involve a ton of performance optimizations involved with adding FX to mixes).
And that wraps things up! Please folks, if you haven't already, leave a review for the game as it helps a ton! Also, feel free to join the discord and be apart of the Mixonaut community!
Thank you folks so much for your support and I'm sending happy vibes to all Mixonauts out there!!
