Maledictum changes
We would like to share an important update regarding the development of Maledictum.
Over the past months, we have continued working on the game and making progress across many areas. However, as Maledictum is currently being developed by a small team of only two people, development has taken longer than we originally anticipated.
We have therefore made the difficult decision to move the planned release window to the beginning of 2027. This also means that the release date of the playable demo will be adjusted.
We understand that many of you have been waiting patiently to experience the game, and we are truly sorry that development is taking longer than expected. We do not want to rush Maledictum or release a version that does not meet the level of quality, atmosphere, stability, and immersion we want to achieve.
We are currently preparing a detailed development roadmap that will include a clearer timeline for upcoming milestones, development updates, the demo release, and the full launch of the game. We will share this roadmap as soon as it is ready so that everyone can follow the next stages of development more closely.
At the same time, we are incredibly happy to announce that Maledictum has now reached more than 1,300 wishlists on Steam.
For a small two-person development team, this is a huge milestone. Every wishlist, comment, follow, and message of support means a great deal to us and gives us even more motivation to continue working on the game.
We would also love to hear your thoughts about an idea we have been discussing for the future.
How would you feel about a separate asymmetrical PvP mode where a group of friends could play on opposing sides? Some players would take on the role of investigators searching for and identifying the demon, while others would play directly as the demons themselves.
The demon players could manipulate the environment, create paranormal events, frighten the investigators, separate the group, and attempt to stop them from completing their investigation.
Would this be something you would enjoy playing with your friends?
Let us know in the comments what you think, what abilities the demons should have, and what would make this mode fun, tense, and replayable for you.
Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support. We know the wait has become longer, but we believe that taking the necessary time is the right decision for Maledictum and for everyone looking forward to playing it.
We are excited to show you more of the game, its development, and its world in the coming months.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
