Custom API Support Is Finally Here! 🎉

Hello, Heroes!

One of the most requested features has officially arrived: Custom API Support!

You can now connect your own AI model to MagiScapes. Below are answers to some of the most common questions.

1. What is a Custom API?

Simply put, it allows MagiScapes to connect to external AI models.

Once connected, you can choose your preferred AI model and give your NPCs different ways of thinking, responding, and interacting.

2. What's the difference between different AI models?

Each model has its own strengths:

• DeepSeek – Great value, suitable for everyday conversations and complex reasoning.

• GPT – Excellent overall performance, especially for roleplay and in-depth conversations.

• Qwen – Strong Chinese language understanding and localization.

• Doubao – Fast response times and convenient access for users in China.

Different providers also have different pricing, so feel free to choose the one that best fits your needs.

3. If I use my own API, will there still be a daily chat limit?

Nope!

Once you're using your own API, MagiScapes no longer limits your daily conversations.

Just remember that your chats will consume your own API credits—don't get so immersed that you forget to check your bill. 😉

4. Will conversations still be moderated after connecting my own API?

Yes.

Content moderation will still be enabled…

…but I'll be gentle. 🤫

5. Will creating AI characters still cost Crystals after connecting my own API?

Yes, but only half the original Crystal cost.

You'll only be paying for the image generation portion.

6. Why can't I connect my own image-generation API?

Some players have already discovered unofficial ways to replace the image generation model.

However, image generation is much more complicated, and the results can be inconsistent.

We don't officially recommend it—but if you're the adventurous type, feel free to explore. 👀

7. Can AI voice generation use a custom API?

Not yet.

It's something we're considering for a future update!

8. Can I use locally hosted AI models?

Support for locally deployed models is planned for the future.

This is only the first phase of our Custom API rollout.

9. Can I use API relay/proxy services?

We don't recommend it.

Third-party relay services may introduce privacy concerns, reduced stability, or additional costs.

For the best experience, we recommend connecting directly to official AI providers.

10. Do I need to own the DLC to use Custom API?

Not at all!

Custom API support is available even in the Demo.

11. Will Steam Workshop support be added in the future?

Yes!

We're planning to support Steam Workshop in a future update.
