changedRoadmapAs of now, the story mode is about 20~25% complete and for most players, that usually works out to about 3 hours of gameplay. The next chapter in the Story Mode's serialized release will land sometime in 2026 and bring that mode up to about 50% complete, introducing new characters, dungeons, and a more expanded world and story that concludes some of the first character arcs that have already started in what we have of the game so far. The finished Story campaign should run around 10 hours by conservative estimates. Ideally, my goal is to have the Story Mode fully complete by late 2027.
addedRoadmapAs for the Versus Mode, it's mechanically about 90% complete as of right now, but that content needs more testing, fixes, and some additional art assets before it releases. My goal is to release one new unlocked character per month until the 20 character roster is fully unlocked, one new stage unlocked every one to two months until there are at least 10 playable stages, and a new weapon or mode appearing occasionally via updates over the next several months. I estimate the Versus Mode will be 100% complete by sometime next year with May 2026 being the target for that goal.
addedIncoming UpdateSpeaking of progress, you can expect an update sometime this month that will include fixes, tweaks, and additions, including some new areas to explore in Story Mode, a working cryptid-hunting minigame that lets you photograph rare cryptids that are hidden throughout the world, and some quality of life tweaks like speech bubbles that appear when NPCs have new dialog. There is also a content warning when you start a new Story Mode game that tones down some of the language and themes in that mode, which I implemented after seeing how big of a hit the Versus Mode was with kids at PGX... Also, a new character will be flapping into Versus Mode just in time for Halloween!

Thank You!

I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone that has taken an interest in MADHOUSE, whether you had a blast crushing your friends in the multiplayer Versus Mode at the Pittsburgh Gaming Expo, in our Discord channel, or with your friends at home -- or maybe you've been uncovering the mysteries of Grayville and learning the tragic lore of the characters in Story Mode -- your reception has been overwhelmingly positive and I'm elated that the game has landed on that mark for so many.

Since launch, I've remained focused almost exclusively on development. In the two weeks that have passed since, I've already made some notable additions, updates, and fixes based on the great feedback I've received from many of you. Admittedly, when you're immersed in the development of a project of this size this it's often easy to lose sight of everything else, including promotion, but I wanted to use this long overdue opportunity to reach out to the community here on Steam to let you know what's going on!
