addedJuly 2026 update 0.11.016 adds new tracks as well as MAJOR physics and gameplay improvements!
addedGame development can be a real challenge when every member of the development team also has to work a 9-5. We wish we could develop Mach1 and deliver updates faster, but we're proud of the progress we've been making at Transmission and we hope you enjoy the new tracks that come with 0.11!
changedThis will be the last of the monthly updates for a short while as we will be focusing our efforts on putting Mach1's public demo together, hopefully in time for Steam Next Fest! Stay tuned for further announcements!!
addedAdded two new tracks:Weekend Cup: Asteroid Mall - Loops, Jumps, and Wall Rides. A twisting track around a shopping mall built on an asteroid in outer space! Both new tracks are works in progress; course layout will be adjusted based on community feedback and visuals are still early, pending any changes to course layout! We have of course play tested the tracks and ensured they're the right balance of challenging and fun, but now it's time to open them up to more players to gather even more feedback. Be sure to let us know what you think!
changedMassively improved game engine/vehicle physics:Increased game engine physics timestep and set worst-case-scenario minimum timestep to ensure cars never launch or fall through walls or floors due to frame rate. Loops and jump landings are much more solid as a result.
changedMassively improved game engine/vehicle physics:Properly implemented vehicle soft-collisions , meaning cars now bounce off of and push each other away instead of causing each other to flip and roll. (Momentum tradeoff is WIP and is planned to be improved.)

Full change log:

New Tracks!

Added two new tracks:

  • Weekend Cup: Desert Highway - Deadly Curves. A dangerous figure-8 with no walls!

  • Weekend Cup: Asteroid Mall - Loops, Jumps, and Wall Rides.

Major Physics Improvements!

Massively improved game engine/vehicle physics:

  • Increased game engine physics timestep and set worst-case-scenario minimum timestep to ensure cars never launch or fall through walls or floors due to frame rate. Loops and jump landings are much more solid as a result.

  • Properly implemented vehicle soft-collisions, meaning cars now bounce off of and push each other away instead of causing each other to flip and roll. (Momentum tradeoff is WIP and is planned to be improved.)

Gameplay Improvements!

  • Updated drone racing lines on Castle City 1 and Polar Spikes.

  • Updated checkpoint positions and data on Castle City 1 and Polar Spikes for more reliable vehicle respawn positioning.

  • Drones now properly avoid turning into walls and swerve much less.

  • Drones now reset themselves if they get stuck (and getting stuck is much less common).

  • Improved off-track KillTrigger positions. KillTriggers have been placed much more aggressively and should detect cars falling off the track much more quickly than before. Certain corners can still be cut should you find a way of doing so...?

  • Started work on proper single-player pause menu. All menus are present but options, audio, and controls menus are not functional yet. Select the controls menu to see controller keybinds!

  • Vsync should now be enabled by default. Options menu is still WIP so you should use your graphics card's software to force this value should you need to change it for now.

  • Adjusted the appearance of the single player select menu and changed the order of transmission select menu to come right after selecting a driver, instead of after selecting a track.

  • Adjusted appearance and physics forces applied when a car is in the process of exploding.

  • Cars in the process of exploding now play multiple sound effects.

  • Camera now follows the player's car more smoothly and predictably, as well as looking into elevation changes, loops, etc to show what's ahead earlier. The strength of this behavior is planned to be made adjustable at a later date.

  • Optimized the file size of the game on disc by removing unused content/assets from Mach1's earlier development.

  • Mouse cursor is now hidden during a race. Pausing the game will make it reappear.

Thank you for playing and supporting MACH1! You're the best!!
