Lost Isle changes
The Isle is overflowing with raw materials. It's isn't overflowing with instructions for how to use those materials. This week we cover how to find those resources, how one material can serve multiple builds, and why the best materials aren't necessarily the ones you find.
Collecting
Almost everything on the Isle is worth picking up. Wood from trees, stone and ore from veins, hides and bones from what you kill, and fibers from plants most players walk past. The Isle won't tell you what any of it is for. You learn by trying!
Tools change how much you get, not whether you get it. A knife will pull ore. A pick will just pull more.
Multiple Uses
Any given raw material rarely has a single purpose. Wood keeps a furnace lit, holds up a wall, and turns into charcoal at the Charcoal Kiln. Fur goes on your back as-is, or through the Spinning Wheel and becomes cloth for something better.
Refined materials fork the same way. An iron bar can become a weapon, a piece of armor, or an upgrade to your base. What path the material goes down depends on what you need in the heat of the moment. But don't burn everything on the first idea. You'll want it for something else eventually.
Higher Quality
Some refinements aren't upgrades. They're keys.
Geodes crack open at the Geode Station into gemstone shards, colored at random. Feed those shards into the Arcane Grinder and they become spell dusts, one for each school of magic. Without those keys you will have a hard time accessing any wizardry build.
You don't refine other materials because you ran out of iron ore to smelt. You make them because they open new recipes and playstyles.
