addedNew Upgrade and Demolish EffectsLast month we covered the first part of the improvements to our base building systems that we've been working on with a new placement shader effect, as well as piece-by-piece plank building. As promised, here's part two where we've improved upgrading and demolishing effects for wood, stone, and adobe building tiers.
changedNew Upgrade and Demolish EffectsSimilar to how placing plank parts previously worked (as shown in the last dev log), freshly upgraded building parts would appear whole all at once. It did the job, but was lacking a bit of juice. Now each part is broken out into individual pieces to allow for a much more satisfying upgrade and demolish experience.
addedNew Upgrade and Demolish EffectsIf a picture is worth a thousand words, then how many words is a GIF worth? Who knows... but we've got 6 today, and sometimes it's better to show than tell. Below is a quick display of the new visual effects for each material type. If you could hear them, you'd also be able to enjoy the new sound effects that go along with each process. Check them out!
addedDemolishWe have so many awesome changes in the works that we can't wait to show you. A massive open-world environment overhaul with better procedural roads and trails, new rivers and streams, new mine-cart tracks, and new fantasy-themed vegetation. Many more varieties of wildlife with unique nighttime behaviors that encourage players to venture out of the safety of their base at night. A group system to seamlessly play with old friends and newfound allies. Improvements to the UI and player combat mechanics, and much more.

Once you get your hands on the game, I highly recommend building, upgrading, and demolishing in quick succession as fast and as often as possible - it's incredibly satisfying and highly addictive! As they say in the business: mo' juice, mo' bettah.
