changedWhat’s new?The centerpiece of this update is the fresh Skill Tree system. The whole design was reworked, from the UI in the menu to the skills themselves. Every character now features a complete, reworked skill tree with multiple branches, allowing for a vast range of builds and possibilities. You will face dilemmas when navigating each skill tree path, choosing between more active and passive skills than ever before. The real Mastery is how you will create the best build for your playstyle.
changedEnhanced Skill EvolutionBeyond the new layout, we have ensured that skills evolve more substantially than they did previously. For example:
changedEnhanced Skill EvolutionMovement Skills: Several skills that previously only allowed for repositioning now grant an extra turn when upgraded, allowing for much more flexibility during a run.
changedEnhanced Skill EvolutionCombat Effects: A skill that originally only dealt raw damage might now apply a negative status effect to an enemy once it has been leveled up.
removedStreamlined Passive ProgressionWe have also changed how passive skills are handled. Passives are now grouped under a single "node."This means you no longer need to unlock every individual level of a passive to progress further down the tree. You can simply unlock it once to move forward and choose to invest additional points into it later if you wish.

Lots of big impact changes have been done to Lost in Prayer with this update. Let’s unpack.

What’s new?

The centerpiece of this update is the fresh Skill Tree system. The whole design was reworked, from the UI in the menu to the skills themselves. Every character now features a complete, reworked skill tree with multiple branches, allowing for a vast range of builds and possibilities. You will face dilemmas when navigating each skill tree path, choosing between more active and passive skills than ever before. The real Mastery is how you will create the best build for your playstyle.

Enhanced Skill Evolution

Beyond the new layout, we have ensured that skills evolve more substantially than they did previously. For example:

  • Movement Skills: Several skills that previously only allowed for repositioning now grant an extra turn when upgraded, allowing for much more flexibility during a run.

  • Combat Effects: A skill that originally only dealt raw damage might now apply a negative status effect to an enemy once it has been leveled up.

These changes ensure that your decisions have a bigger impact on the outcome of every run.

Streamlined Passive Progression

We have also changed how passive skills are handled. Passives are now grouped under a single "node."This means you no longer need to unlock every individual level of a passive to progress further down the tree. You can simply unlock it once to move forward and choose to invest additional points into it later if you wish.

However, you won’t be the only one getting upgrades... Enemies you encounter in your runs will also get new skills as you progress your way towards the highest point of heaven, or the lowest pits of hell.

And there’s more

We’re introducing 2 new playable characters!

  1. Sword Golem (You may recognize him from somewhere!)

An offensive-based character that uses his agility and his speed to their advantage to displace his opponents and strike multiple enemies.

  1. Hellhound

Also an offensive character, this one benefits from high mobility to position strategically and deal massive damage.

  • Plus, there are now more varieties of rewards to pick from at the end of Floor 3. You will get to pick one out of many rewards offered at random every run. Good luck!

  • We also added Idle Break animations for each and every character. The animations are visible in game and in menus. The goal was to bring more life on the board and to bring forward their unique personalities.

  • More general balancing has been done on enemies, playable characters, equipment and items.

What's next?

With the release of this update, we’ve actually decided to move away from a fixed roadmap. Instead, we want to hear directly from you: what do you think of the current update, and what would you like to see for the future of Lost In Prayer’s Early Access? We have plenty of ideas, but we want our next steps to be shaped by your feedback as much as possible.
