Limerick: Cadence Mansion changes
I want to provide a few key pieces of information as Steam Next kicks off.
ABOUT THE DEVELOPER
I want to be upfront with everyone that I am a solo dev, as in I quite literally do basically everything by myself. The only exception to this is the lovely voice acting provided by Andy Mack and the use of a few (emphasis on few) asset packs.
I don't want this to be an excuse, but I would ask that you understand I do not have a team, I do not have a massive budget, and I do not have a big publisher behind me (Jenito Studios, LLC is just me, too). While this allows me to be more personal than a large developer, it also means that there are some things I cannot realistically accomplish right now.
DEMO LENGTH, SCOPE & DIFFICULTY
The demo generally runs about an hour and a half for a lot of people, but it will vary wildly from player to player. There are also difficulty options that can help you get through much quicker if you are pressed for time. I know - there are a lot of games to try this week!
This demo focuses on introducing you to the mechanics of the game, allowing you to enjoy some exploration and experience an encounter with Limerick the marionette.
It is important to know that Limerick is not designed to be a particularly easy game. It offers a wide array of challenges, and I think it shines best when you must fight to survive. However, I have added multiple settings that can make the experience much more forgiving, and I strongly encourage you to use them if the game is being unenjoyable for you.
Let me also say up front that if you enjoy the demo, I think you will definitely enjoy the complete game. If you don't enjoy the demo, I want to be transparent: it is unlikely that all that much about the current experience is going to change between now and release. While I will be taking and implementing some feedback, the core experience is unlikely to be much different.
ABOUT FEEDBACK
I have recently experienced a massive spike in new feedback. I am VERY happy about that and extremely thankful!
As a solo dev, you can imagine that my time is severely limited. I want you to know that I look at all the feedback I get, and I will continue to do so. I always prioritize fixing things that are causing consistent problems for a large portion of players.
However, I highly doubt I will be able to answer every question or respond to every suggestion individually. Please look to larger announcement posts for more generalized reactions to feedback, along with updates on what steps I am taking.
I want to make the game as widely playable as possible. I know the end product will not be for everyone, but I want to do what I can to help players enjoy Limerick: Cadence Mansion.
Thank you all so much for your continued support! I look forward to everyone exploring the wonderful world of Limerick this week.
