Lightyear Frontier changes
Howdy, Exofarmers!
We're back with another look at what's coming in 1.0 later this year. This next change is one many of y'all have been asking for since day one, so we're excited to announce...
We are removing the day transitions!
That's right, it's finally happening! Having the game divided into distinct days was an early decision that much of the game has been built around up to this point. Weather, growth times, repopulating plants and minerals - most things related to the game world and farming are tied to the day system. Farming game fans might recognize where the idea came from.
As time has gone on, we’ve seen the limits of this solution - mainly that it creates an awkward pause in the gameplay that breaks flow. Even worse, if it happens at a bad time, it might leave you defenseless against a Floater swarm or careening off a cliff!
After some serious tech effort, we’ve found a solution that lets us seamlessly transition from day to day without huge frame rate drops or anything funky happening. This leads to a game that flows better over all, allowing you to keep farming and gathering without interruptions.
This has been one our most hotly requested changes since launch, so we hope you're looking forward to it!
Weather changes
Instead of having just one type of weather per day, the weather will now change dynamically over time. A day might start with pouring rain and end with clear skies!
The Weather Station has been updated to show weather changes in the coming hours instead of days. Keep an eye on it to not get caught in any thunderstorms!
Speaking of thunderstorms...
Summer vacation time
At this point y'all know the deal with us Swedish developers - for the next few weeks the team will be away on summer vacation! After going hard on 1.0 for the last few months, we're taking a short break to recharge our batteries. We'll still be posting here and there, but you may not see a lot of us. We'll be back in August to start putting the finishing touches on the 1.0 update. We'll be spending a good amount of time polishing the game and fixing bugs to make sure 1.0 is as good as it can be, so we thank you for your patience! And with that, let's walk into these glorious sunny days together to the sweet sounds of a summer classic... View store page Have a good one, y'all! Next time, we'll be talking about map markers!
