Hello, everyone!

Welcome to our last devlog of 2025!

While The Game Awards happened, Divinity got announced, and Metroid Prime 4 finally got released after its E3 announcement 8 years ago, a lot has happened for Light Odyssey. As a result, we'd love to wrap up December with you and look back at some of our favorite highlights of 2025!

Kitalpha

For starters, we made a ton of progress this month on Kitalpha. It's a Colossus that we briefly showed in last month's devlog and one that has been rapidly brought to life since. (Though, those who follow us on Twitter or BlueSky might have seen the progress already piece by piece. 😁)

Kitalpha represents the star Alpha Equulei and is more dangerous than any of the previous Colossi you've seen thus far. In particular, we've iterated on Kitalpha's AI to make it both smarter and faster; ensuring you have a proper challenge as you make progress and get better at the game.

We also recognize that the Colossi don't always react to players standing close to their feet (or torso in the case of Aldebaran), which makes the boss fights easier and less immersive. Because of this, wé're simultaneously making improvements to the AI of all Colossi to resolve this.

Beyond this, we've been hard at work to develop 3 other Colossi. You've already met one of them in our previous November Devlog called Alpha Cen, which is nearly finished. As for the others, we ask for some patience as we'll share more updates with you in the coming months. 😇

2025 in Review

All in all, It's been a hectic year but also a very fruitful one. While we worked a lot of overtime, 2025 once again reminded us how much dedication indie game development requires. Still, we’re excited about the current state of Light Odyssey and can’t wait for you all to experience the full game.

Some of our favorite highlights of 2025 are:

  • Joining Steam Next Fest and releasing a public demo

  • Exhibiting at gamescom, Tokyo Game Show, Taipei Game Show, BitSummit, and G-Star

  • Fixing so many bugs and overall gameplay issues with the help of your feedback

Lastly, we want to thank each and every one of you for all your support up until this point. We're almost entering the final stretch of our Odyssey (very cheesy, sorry) and we hope you'll stick around.

For now, we wish you a happy New Year!
