Light Odyssey - Devlog

Hello, everyone! Welcome to our first devlog of 2026! Typically, I'd start with a recap of what's been happening in the gaming world but we've been so busy that I couldn't tell you haha.

addedNew ColossiFirst off, Kitalpha, who you might recognize from our December devlog. However, this time around, it has a brand-new mechanic involving it's weapon for those who like to play on the offense. Namely, you can now temporarily break Kitalpha's weapon to stun it and force it into a different fight pattern.
addedNew ColossiBeyond this, we'd also like to you to meet Alpha Mon! It's surprisingly fast and has a new mechanic similar to Kitalpha. However, to not spoil everything, we'll leave you with another teaser for now. 😋
addedPuzzles! At the same time, we've been expanding the world of Light Odyssey with puzzles that let you unlock new weapons, items, and abilities. For these, we were very inspired by games that we have fond memories of ourselves; games that make you experience the joy of exploration and discovery when you stumble upon a secret. We hope that our puzzles will be able to emulate that same feeling for you. 😊
addedPuzzles! We hope you'll have a lot of fun solving them and theorizing about certain elements. Perhaps you might even learn something new about the story or play the game in a different way!
addedBeyond DevelopmentJust last week, we brought a new demo to BitSummit and PlayX4 to test the new colossi (a big thank you to everyone who visited us!). As always, we wrote down the feedback and will implement it ASAP.

Hello, everyone!

Welcome to our second devlog of 2026!

With Summer Game Fest just around the corner, we'd like to grab your attention while we can and share what we've been up to for Light Odyssey during April and May!

New Colossi

Ever since we released the public demo, we received a bunch of feedback from you all about the second boss fight phases. Specifically, some of you mentioned that it felt like they distracted from the boss fight experience after multiple attempts because they were either too easy or too repetitive.

We heard you loud and clear and have designed our latest Colossi using a different approach than the previous ones. We hope you like the variety but please let us know what you think.

First off, Kitalpha, who you might recognize from our December devlog. However, this time around, it has a brand-new mechanic involving it's weapon for those who like to play on the offense. Namely, you can now temporarily break Kitalpha's weapon to stun it and force it into a different fight pattern.

Beyond this, we'd also like to you to meet Alpha Mon! It's surprisingly fast and has a new mechanic similar to Kitalpha. However, to not spoil everything, we'll leave you with another teaser for now. 😋

As for the other colossi, we need just a little longer before we're able to show you some teasers. Though, they'll be totally different from what you've seen thus far and might largely remain a secret until release.

Puzzles!

Given the puzzles' nature, we unfortunately can't show much without giving away the solutions and potentially ruining the fun. Hence the in-editor footage for now.

We hope you'll have a lot of fun solving them and theorizing about certain elements. Perhaps you might even learn something new about the story or play the game in a different way!

Beyond Development

Beyond all this, we've once again been on some side-quests.

Just last week, we brought a new demo to BitSummit and PlayX4 to test the new colossi (a big thank you to everyone who visited us!). As always, we wrote down the feedback and will implement it ASAP.

We've also done another interview that will be published in the near future. We talked about some design decisions, inspirations, and v1.0 details. If you're interested, consider following us on X/Twitter or BlueSky where we'll post about it as soon as it's live!

What's Next?

Next up, we'll try to survive the heat and work on the final colossi. We'll post another devlog in July where we'll bring you up to date on our latest adventures.

In the meantime, stay hydrated and enjoy Summer Game Fest if you're watching!

Thank you for all your support!
