Lich Lords changes
We've just released a big new update for those who have signed up to beta test Lich Lords. The update should be live shortly after the time of this announcement. Many of the new fixes and changes were directly inspired by the current reports from beta testing, so keep reporting bugs and suggesting new features if you want to see them!
NEW FEATURE: BOSSES
Portals to new areas are now locked off until you defeat the area boss. Area bosses drop lots of loot/items and a Mutation Power (see below) on defeat
Added boss: Executioner Orphan
Added boss: Orphan Warlord
Added boss: Night Hunter
Added a yellow wisp / faint shooting star that periodically appears and guides players toward the area boss
Added map icon showing whether an area boss has been defeated (skull with a red line through it)
NEW FEATURE: MUTATION / POWERS
Added new Mutation System (roguelike-style permanent bonuses similar to boons/buffs/powers/etc)
Mutations are most commonly obtained by defeating area bosses
Added 16 new Mutation powers
Mutation powers are now displayed on the character stats screen
NEW FEATURE: MISC ONLINE FUNCTIONS
Added basic online interactivity:
Passing by a Blood Crystal sends a free restoration to another online player’s Blood Crystal
Upon death, your corpse is sent to another player’s world. They may loot it to obtain some of your items/equipment — you do not lose your own items
Players can see ghosts of other online players, including their names, running or emoting in their world
Set a password in multiplayer settings if you only want to see corpses/ghosts and all other current and future online features from only players sharing the password

BUG FIXES
Fixed player projectile-throwing animation not playing when two-handing a weapon
Fixed several stair collider issues
Fixed the weapon trail effect not appearing consistently
Fixed bug allowing players to “pick up” smashed crates and vases
Fixed occasional player movement lock when attacking
Fixed poise damage still applies to knocked-down enemies, which could cause infinite staggering
Fixed bug where falling from high positions could lock the player in a landing animation
Fixed knocked-down enemies sometimes not standing back up
Fixed the issue where the off-hand weapon trail could appear when swinging the other weapon
Fixed elemental weapons sold by vendors not displaying elemental damage in item previews
Fixed a rare issue where players could spawn inside walls when transitioning to new areas
Fixed multiple enemy pathfinding issues
Fixed a rare issue where the player could become stuck in mid-air
Fixed bug allowing skill usage without sufficient mind
Fixed multiple memory leaks
Fixed bug where throwing a crate could leave the player unable to act
Fixed vendor panel randomly opening upon death
Fixed bug where enemies could still damage the player after being killed during hit trades
Fixed enemies occasionally standing motionless
GAMEPLAY CHANGES & IMPROVEMENTS
Redesigned the main menu background and visual style
Lowered the volume of crate-smashing sound effects
Lowered menu sound effects volume
Reduced overly loud ambience and sound effects
Added sound effects for climbing ladders
Added echo effects to some ambience sounds
Updated vendor GUI panel
ESC key now closes all open menus
Slightly updated intro cinematic with cinematic black bars and a brief black-and-white to color fade
Added description to the Lantern item
Fall damage now scales based on distance rather than time
Updated Berserker Orphan animations
Updated Halberd two-hand attack animations
Added new Katana two-hand animations
Adjusted one-handed large weapon attacks
Improved dungeon puddles, bloodstains, and environmental visuals
Adjusted bloom and overall lighting
Improved lighting for character customization preview
Removed braziers spawning inside walls when no door is present
Updated Blood Crystal 3D model
Reworked area progression: portals are now locked until the area boss(es) are defeated
Improved throwing accuracy of vials and crates while locked onto a target
Ronin now starts with an additional Shortbow and 50 arrows
Added new starting spells to some locked classes
Enemy Liches can now drink from the Soul Chalice to restore their health when damaged and far enough from the player
Added enemy screaming and taunt animations
