Korter 1996 changes
Korter team is sending off the year with our last 2025 update!
🎉🎉🎉
Hope all of you are safe and well! For us this year has been very much focused on Korter 1996, with the release in June and polishing the rough edges with updates over the following months. Right now, we are very tired but happy, ready to wrap up and put a bow on the Korter year.
What we’ve added and fixed in this update:
Technical
Updated Unity version to address the Unity engine vulnerability https://unity.com/security/sept-2025-01
Fix for the pink menu on Mac bug
Improved pixel precision in outline rendering
Fix a bug with the Tab shortcut making a softlock possible
Gameplay
Added new seasonal items to the seamstress’ apartment
Added new books, a clock and other items to the seamstress’ apartment
Added extra placement areas to apartments with fewer options
Added a special gift box to the player apartment (unlocked when you get to the end and select Continue, this one works in existing save files)
Visual Improvements
Added visual highlights to some menu buttons
Added a controls summary, viewable from the pause menu
Improved composition for the pattern notebook
Adjusted glass dresser doors to improve placement options
Replaced some duplicated postcards with unique art
Improved alignment in the player notebook, and touched up the page turn animations
Here’s a little recap of 2025:
In February, we updated our demo with lots of UI polish, our first step towards release
Korter 1996 released on 19th June!
In September, we were nominated for the Wings award at BLON festival in Lithuania
Then, in October, we won the Estonian Game of the Year 2025 award from MängudeÖÖ in Estonia!
Mari-Anna was live on the Estonian morning TV show, Terevisioon, to talk about our game alongside the host of MängudeÖÖ
The very next week, we showcased our game at TipiLAN in Tallinn, and ran a decorating competition
November and December were pretty quiet by comparison, except for a surprise New Year’s Eve Update!!! (This one, the post you’re reading!)
Next year we’re excited to celebrate 30 years from when the Korter 1996 storyline took place! I hope you’ll stick with us and check out the little update we have in mind for then. For now, it’s time to move forward and dream of new creative projects for 2026 🙂
Wishing you a happy New Year
