It has been over a month, but I am back with the most significant update in the game's development history. My goal is to make the game as fast and accessible as possible, so your feedback about the game being slow hits me straight in the heart. I have worked hard to fix this, and now I present to you the revamped combat system. It introduces several changes, detailed below.

New Ranged Combat System

After moving, a 25% damage penalty now applies to shooting. Archers now deal more damage at close range and less at long range—Mages are the opposite, while Monks strike within a short radius but are always effective. This is currently reflected in the UI, and detailed explanations within unit traits will be added later.

Engagement System instead of Zone of Control

From now on, units can move past one another without fear of being struck. However, if one unit attacks another and they exchange blows, they become "Engaged" in combat. Consequently, if one of them decides to break this link—by attacking someone else or moving away—the opponent performs an Opportunity Attack.

Defense Stance Overhaul

The Defense Stance has been replaced by "Overwatch"; additionally, it is now activated by clicking on the unit itself rather than a button. Vigilance grants an extra reaction for counter-attacks or Opportunity Attacks.

Other Changes

  • Initiative tiers are now 5 instead of 7: from -2 to +2. There are now more situations where you can choose which unit to move first.

  • Overall, the game has become faster in terms of animations and action execution.

  • The battlefield grid has been reworked, so cell borders no longer overlap with each other.

  • Angels have gained the ability to fly.

It is extremely important for me to know your opinion about the update. Please play and share what you think in the comments or in the community. As always, you can try out the new version here:
