It has been about 100 days since the release of the largest Kingso update. During this time, I started working on a new project — CaveVox, a prequel to Kingso. It is a 3D voxel roguelike set in a fantasy medieval dungeon. Unlike Kingso, where you explored the continent of Avelir in 2D, now you will be able to descend into the depths of one of the equally detailed dungeons in 3D.

What awaits you in CaveVox?

  • Unique dungeon generation — each dungeon level has its own style but is always unique. This applies to appearance, objects, interactions, and monsters.

  • Spatial sound and a living dungeon atmosphere — you can hear the sounds of monsters and the environment.

  • Combat system and diverse monster behavior — monsters have different behaviors, can form groups or attack alone, and have hearing and sight.

  • Cooperative mode — it is planned that you will be able to descend alone or with friends into the dungeon and play your role in your own journey.

  • Permanent death — as in Kingso, each character is unique and can be lost at any moment.

  • Classless progression — create a character according to your own play style.

  • Atmospheric details: dust, cobwebs, vines, broken objects, traps, the ability to extinguish torches, and much more.

In terms of graphics, CaveVox combines simple pixel stylization with detailed lighting and shadow effects. Each level will differ: from well-kept halls to ruined and overgrown dungeons.

What’s new in Kingso?

Work on Kingso continues as well! Planned features include:

  • More monsters for different biomes and their movement across the map

  • New types of quests from the Adventurers’ Guild

  • Economy system and caravans

  • New animations and interactions with characters

  • More story and regular dialogues

  • Code optimization, graphics improvement, and addition of atmospheric details.

Thank you for reading this devlog. Your reaction and support are very important to me! I am looking forward to seeing you at the demo release in October 2025 and the early access release of CaveVox in Q4 2025!
