Only 6 Days Until the Full Release!

King’s Well launches on Steam on August 11!

After months of development, testing, balancing, and refining the depths of the Well, we are incredibly excited to finally bring you the complete experience.

We also want to thank everyone who played the demo, joined the challenges, shared feedback, reported issues, and added King’s Well to their wishlist. Your support has helped us improve the game throughout its development.

The demo gave you your first opportunity to power machines with cards, build poker hands, and begin the climb toward the surface. With the full release, the gates to the complete Well will finally open.

New challenges, deeper progression, more enemies, additional weapons and Relics, three complete Acts, and many new ways to build your escape are waiting below.

Before launch day arrives, we want to give you a complete look at everything coming in the full release of King’s Well.

Let’s take a look at what awaits you in the Well on August 11.

A Complete Three-Act Journey

The full release introduces a complete Act system, expanding King’s Well beyond the portion available in the demo.

A full escape attempt will now take place across three Acts, with the run continuing to evolve as you climb through the Well.

Every decision you make your route, the machines you collect, the cards you upgrade, the Relics you choose, and the resources you spend will shape your chances of surviving the complete journey.

The deeper you commit to a run, the more important your build and long-term decisions become.

Take Every Gambler to New Heights with Ascension

The full release introduces the new Ascension system.

Each of the four starting gamblers can now be played across three Ascension difficulty levels, offering additional challenges for players who want to push their strategies further.

Choosing a gambler still determines the starting weapons available at the beginning of a run. Ascension adds a new layer of challenge, encouraging you to learn the strengths of every starting setup and adapt your strategy as the difficulty increases.

Escaping the Well once is only the beginning. The higher Ascension levels will test how well you truly understand your cards, machines, poker combinations, and route decisions.

Discover the Stories Behind the Gamblers

The gamblers thrown into the King’s Well have stories of their own.

With the new Journal collection system, you will gradually unlock Journal entries as you progress through the game.

These entries allow you to learn more about the characters and discover pieces of their stories over time. Completing a run is no longer the only reason to keep climbing: every attempt can also bring you closer to uncovering more of the people trapped inside the Well. How much of their past will you manage to uncover? Steam post image

Expand Your Mechanical Arsenal

The full release brings considerably more options for building your machine engine.

You will be able to discover:

  • 8 new weapons

  • 14 new Relics

  • 3 new card upgrades

New weapons provide additional ways to turn your cards into immediate attacks, defence, healing, and special effects.

The new Relics introduce more opportunities to create synergies and shape the direction of a run. A Relic that initially appears situational may become an essential part of your build when combined with the right weapons and upgraded cards.

The new card upgrades give you even more control over the deck you are building, creating additional decisions about which cards should be used to activate machines and which should be kept for poker combinations. With more tools available, every run offers new opportunities to experiment and discover powerful combinations.

Face 20 New Enemies

Your journey through the full King’s Well will be considerably more dangerous.

The full release adds 20 new enemies, expanding the mechanical threats standing between you and the surface.

These enemies are joined by:

  • 8 new enemy traits

  • 7 new enemy intents

Enemy Intents give you important information about what an opponent may do next. Reading those intentions and preparing the correct response can be just as important as dealing damage.

Sometimes the right move will be to activate a defensive machine. Sometimes you may need to sacrifice part of a promising poker hand to prevent an enemy action. In other situations, accepting short-term damage may allow you to preserve the cards needed for a much stronger combination.

With more enemies, traits, and Intents in play, you will need to understand not only your own build, but also the threats standing in front of you.

Encounter Six New Events

Combat is not the only danger waiting inside the Well.

The full release adds six new Events, introducing additional encounters and decisions during your climb.

Events can present opportunities, risks, or difficult choices that may change the direction of your run. The safest option may not always offer the greatest reward, while a dangerous decision may provide exactly what your build needs.

Choose carefully. Not every opportunity inside the Well comes without a cost. Steam post image

More Choices at Rest Nodes

Rest Nodes have been reworked for the full release.

Previously, resting primarily offered an opportunity to recover health. You will now have three different ways to prepare for the challenges ahead:

  • Heal

  • Upgrade a card

  • Remove a card

This turns every Rest Node into a strategic decision.

Healing may keep the current run alive, but upgrading an important card could strengthen your build for the remainder of the journey. Removing a weaker or unwanted card can make your deck more consistent and increase your chances of completing the poker combinations you need.

Do you repair the damage already done, or sacrifice safety to improve the rest of your run? Steam post image

Recycle Unwanted Weapons at the Shop

The Shop Node also receives an important new feature: Weapon Recycling.

Weapons that no longer fit your build do not have to remain unused in your inventory. In the full release, unwanted weapons can be recycled and sold at the Shop.

This gives you another way to manage your resources and adapt during a run. A weapon that helped during an earlier stage may no longer support the build you are creating. Recycling it allows you to recover value and invest in tools that better match your current strategy.

Every piece of machinery has value even if that value comes from dismantling it.

Play at Your Own Pace

The full release adds game speed controls, allowing you to adjust the pace of the action.

Whether you prefer to carefully examine every card and enemy Intent or move more quickly through familiar encounters, the new speed options provide greater control over the flow of a run.

This is especially useful for returning players who already understand the basic systems and want to progress through early encounters more quickly.

Controller and Steam Deck Support

King’s Well will launch with controller support and improved support for playing on Steam Deck.

Menus, card selection, machine interactions, and general navigation have been adjusted to make the game more comfortable to play without a mouse and keyboard.

Whether you are playing at your desk or taking the Well with you, you will have more ways to plan your escape.

Unlock 20 Steam Achievements

The full release integrates 20 Steam Achievements.

These Achievements will reward different parts of your journey through the Well and provide additional goals beyond completing a standard run.

Some may be earned naturally as you progress, while others will require greater mastery, experimentation, and carefully constructed builds.

How many will you unlock?

Visual Improvements, Balancing and Bug Fixes

Alongside all the new content and systems, the full release includes extensive improvements across the entire game.

We have made numerous visual changes to improve clarity, readability, impact, and the overall atmosphere of the Well.

The full release also includes many bug fixes and balancing adjustments based on development, testing, and player feedback.

Weapons, cards, enemies, encounters, interface elements, and other systems have been reviewed and refined to create a smoother and more consistent experience from the beginning of a run to the end of the third Act.
