What changed
- Gameplay
- Server
- UI and audio
Our first update is here and brings:
Steam based Player-to-Player (P2P) networking which brings much stabler multi-player
In-game chat - you can now send chat messages to everyone in game
Revised game log shows more info like remaining cards and is formatted for better clarity
A new medieval name and title generator (replaces the adjective/animal names)
Several bug fixes causing errors and freezing
Steam based networking
Previously servers were hosted by us and a game code was used to invite players to an existing game. We had a lot of stability issues with this, in particular when a lot of players were online. Instead, new games are created by selecting the new "Host Game" option and then inviting more players using either Discord or Steam. The player who creates the game is acting as the server. This change brings stability and faster multiplayer. More info and examples on inviting can be found at this link.
In-game chat
Everyone in game can now chat using the chatbox on the bottom right! We still recommend voice chat using a service like Discord, but chat is great for recording events like who is dating who or clarifying spelling during rhyme and categories.
Medieval Names
Instead of names like "Angry Alligator" you will get a randomly generated medieval name and title. It can still be changed manually if you want. If you have ideas for better/funnier titles and names let us know!
Note: When you are in the main menu the current version can be found on the top right of your screen. This update is for version 0.8.5.
