Recently, we rolled out achievements to the beta branch. And as always with new features, a few things didn’t go exactly as planned on the first try. That’s what the beta is for, though, and we really appreciate all the feedback you’ve been sharing.
Today we’re releasing a patch that addresses those issues, with fixes for achievement-related bugs as well as a few general improvements across the game.
We’ve also noticed some questions coming up quite often, so we’ve put together answers to the most common ones at the end of this post.
List of changes for achievements:
Fixed an issue where achievements for reaching mana threshold values could be awarded even when the actual requirements had not been met.
Fixed an issue where the achievement for visiting Kordar could be awarded when visiting a cave in Greenwort.
Fixed an issue where the achievement for visiting Ultrax could be awarded when entering a special location through the whale event.
Fixed an issue where completing the game on a higher difficulty did not grant the achievements for completing it on lower difficulty levels.
Fixed an issue where the "Lucky Lucky" achievement could be awarded upon receiving maps, without actually killing the corresponding character. The check now works more accurately.
For the "Ghost Buster" achievement, the route where the player first talks to the ghost, then switches sides to Norzh, and later resolves the conflict peacefully is now also counted.
Fixed an issue where, under certain circumstances, the "Stolen Heart" achievement might not be awarded upon marrying Mirabella.
* For the "Onepunchman" achievement, the required damage threshold has been increased from 1.000 to 10.000.
* Added save file scanning on game startup. If existing save files contain already completed achievement conditions, those achievements will now be granted automatically.
List of general changes:
Fixed a brief freeze when opening the character screen for the first time.
Fixed stability issues that could in some cases occur when interacting with runes.
Q&A
Q: Can achievements be unlocked from old save files?
A: Some of them - yes, but not all.
Achievements for completing the game under certain conditions can be obtained if you load a save made before the ending and go through the final dialogue.
Achievements for visiting locations are only granted at the exact moment you enter the corresponding location.
Q: Do achievements work with mods?
A: They may work, but this is not guaranteed.
The more mod changes the game’s scripts and logic, the higher the chance that the achievement system may not function correctly. At the same time, the mods themselves should generally continue to work regardless of the achievement system.
Q: Will achievements earned during testing be kept once the update hits the main branch?
A: Yes. All achievements unlocked in the test version will remain with players after the full release of the achievement system.
