Kingdom Flipper changes
It’s time to renovate!
Steam Next Fest has begun, and Kingdom Flipper’s Demo just got a huge update!
Become an architect today during the Next Fest and renovate your first castle before the full release this summer. I’ve updated the demo with new content, bug fixes, and quality of life changes. There’s never been a better time to become a royal architect.
Please enjoy Next Fest and Wallpaper update!
I’ve been wanting to add new wallpapers for a while now, and what better time than during Next Fest! There were challenges that have held me up since trying to find a non-AI-generated image is really difficult right now, plus Kingdom Flipper is not always historically accurate. I wanted to change that and add more appropriate historical designs. So I started going through museum collections online and trawling for wallpaper.
After finding designs I visually liked (hours of sorting through some of the ugliest designs), I fixed up about ten designs. A staggering amount of work for a visual update, but it really was worth it to me to have more designs for the walls while having them aesthetically, moderately historically accurate, non-ai, and in good colors.
Happy renovating!
Demo Update: 🖌️New content
Ten new Wallpapers to celebrate Next Fest! Find them under “Tile”.
📜Changes
New UI button for easily repeating your wallpaper or tiling choice instead of having to scroll through looking for the last one used. This makes painting, tiling, and papering a lot easier! Did the same thing for painting - no more having to remember which butter yellow or cabbage green you were using!
Changed building text for the demo and full game to reflect current architecture.
Changed Wallpaper and Tile UI to have much larger icons so you can see the pattern better.
Changed how the paint and wallpaper menus work, making them easier to use. For instance, the scroll bar on the wallpaper menu is larger, and the close side panel is smaller. This will help with mis-clicks.
Changed alignment on some menu items.
The updated lighting was darker than it should have been.
Tightened up the assets in the demo so it should run a little smoother and be a tiny bit smaller on hard drives.
Changed translucency of curtains for a performance upgrade.
Adjusted tower stairs so they don't show the plaster material.
Adjusted demo level walls on the lower level to line up correctly with floors.
🐛Bug Fixes
Fixed bed_08 spawning book_08. The nice green bed is working again.
Fixed ceilings having slightly misadjusted top levels.
Fixed a bug where the paint menu wasn't closing correctly.
Fixed paint menu for wallpaper/tiling. The menu will now close when not selected.
Finally found the elusive 'no valid player controller found' in the writhing mass of UI. This affects you not at all, but is incredibly satisfying as I'd been hunting it for literally months.
