COMMUNITY OUTREACH

This new perk allows your units to build relationships with the community they serve. You'll be able to improve relationships by sending units to engage in activities at venues that appear around town once the perk has been unlocked.

These venues will disappear for a while once they've been used, but don't worry! They'll reappear eventually so your units may continue to visit them.

Each unit's relationship with the community is rated between 1 and 5 stars. As the unit continues to improve their relationship, they'll unlock their own individual perks!

1 Star: A slightly lower chance that suspects will fight or run when dealing with the unit.

2 Stars: A slight chance that suspects will confess to carrying weapons or drugs. This is especially useful for departments that do not conduct routine searches.

3 Stars: A chance to gain additional Intelligence points when the unit arrests a suspect.

4 Stars: A greatly reduced chance that suspects will fight or run when dealing with the unit.

5 Stars: A greatly increased chance that suspects will confess to carrying weapons or drugs.

Remember, each unit has their own relationship with the community. The more units who build up their relationship, the safer everyone will be!

HOUSE CLEANER CHALLENGE

A new challenge mode is included with the update that will task you with taking control of an existing police force that has been horribly mismanaged. Your objective will be to correct all of the mistakes that the previous administration made and gain control of a city that is already in chaos before time runs out.

HOSTAGE-BARRICADE SITUATION

This new crime allows you to get a little more involved with police work. In this case, an armed suspect has taken hostages and locked themselves in a building. You'll need to dispatch a police negotiator to the scene to talk to them.

The police negotiator you send to this call should have a higher Interrogation skill. Once the negotiator arrives at the scene, they'll wait for your instructions. Click the crime bubble (without units selected) to see your options for negotiating with the suspect.

Your police negotiator can try to learn about the suspect using their Interrogation skill. The higher their skill, the more likely the negotiator is to discover something useful about the suspect that may help you decide what other actions to take. For instance, suspects who are hungry may want food delivered to their location.

Taking actions that improve the suspect's cooperation will get you closer to rescuing the hostages safely. But be careful! You have a limited number of actions you can take before the suspect must be ordered to surrender. If the suspect isn't feeling particularly cooperative when ordered to surrender, they may do something drastic and endanger the hostages.

We don't want you to feel pressured to have to get involved with this crime if you're overwhelmed with other tasks whenever it pops up. It's perfectly safe to call units away from the scene to go deal with other things.

The crime will close itself automatically after ten minutes if you haven't resolved it by then.
