Journey Of Rune changes
[Sorry—due to our small team size, an English version isn’t available at the moment. We’re working on it and appreciate your understanding.]
Update Overview
Special Terrain System
Using skills or items, characters can now create special ground effects or clouds/mist in the world. These special terrains may help you devastate your enemies— or end up trapping you instead. Use them wisely!
Everyone Is Moving Now!
All characters in the scene now have their own schedules, and won’t just stand still anymore. These moving NPCs aren’t only more “lively” to look at—patrolling enemies, and even ambushers hidden in the shadows, will bring more challenges to your adventure.
New Combat Mechanics & Skills
We’ve added a new mechanic: Skill Focus. Skills with Focus can allow a character to maintain a powerful state, or sustain a special terrain effect (see the in-game encyclopedia for details). In addition, to better support the new combat mechanics and the Special Terrain System, we’ve reworked the effects of almost all skills.
New Story & New Areas
This update delivers the main content of Chapter 1, with an estimated playtime of 3–4 hours. Compared to previous versions, we’ve added a large amount of new story and quests, and opened up more scenes and areas. It’s time to head into the Crimson Apostles’ lair and put an end to their conspiracy!
Performance Optimization & More
Beyond the major additions above, we’ve also improved performance.
We’ve restructured how systems like combat, characters, and equipment operate, and we believe this will improve overall stability.
Notes on Current Limitations (EA)
Although this update adds a lot of content, there are still areas that need improvement. We’d like to share the following with you:
A small number of models (characters and environments) are not finished yet and are currently replaced with temporary assets. We will fill in these art assets in future updates.
Compared to a fully complete Chapter 1, about 20% of the story is still not implemented. Due to limited development capacity, some story segments lack cutscenes/presentation, and a small portion is not yet in the game. We will complete the missing parts in the next scheduled update.
The current visual presentation of Special Terrain is not ideal. This involves some technical challenges, and we expect to improve the terrain visuals in the next scheduled update.
Finally, thank you all for your continued support and feedback. We’ll keep iterating throughout Early Access to make the game better and better!
Wishing everyone a happy Lunar New Year! 🎉
