New Name, Bug Fixes, Visual Updates and New Content

Thanks for being patent between releases. I have been very busy welcoming a new member into my family! With the new little one around, things have been hectic! That said, it's been 4 months so here's a new update. Also.

That said, it's been 4 months so here's a new update. Also... all of the legal stuff has been ironed out and I can finally announce the new name "Jet Rush"! Thank you again for being patent!
changedCore Gameplay:
changedAll water zones have been expanded on. It should seem more natural in the way water behaves. A small area like a bay will not have crashing waves. Area's more exposed to the ocean will now have larger crashing waves.
addedAdded "Wrong Way" and "Too Far From Track" notifications. This new system is new and will need a bit more tweaking. At any rate, these notifications can be toggled off in settings.
changedRace opening screen has been expanded on. This screen will now show images of all the maps in the GP and what map you're about to play. It will also show your previous race times for the tracks that have been played that round.
addedBoat Life Items have been added. Once they are collected, all three lives are given back.

Core Gameplay:

  • Boost item count has been drastically lowered. They are now permanent in the world and are set to respawn after 1 second.

  • Boat top speed (without using boost) has been lowered slightly.

  • More work has been done to race time calculations.

  • All water zones have been expanded on. It should seem more natural in the way water behaves.

    1. A small area like a bay will not have crashing waves.

    2. Area's more exposed to the ocean will now have larger crashing waves.

  • Added "Wrong Way" and "Too Far From Track" notifications. This new system is new and will need a bit more tweaking. At any rate, these notifications can be toggled off in settings.

  • Race opening screen has been expanded on.

  • Spikes and Mines now steal all boost and take a boat life. After the boat hits 3 of either. The boat is destroyed and the race ends. More to come.

  • Boat Life Items have been added. Once they are collected, all three lives are given back.

  • Numerous maps have been updated. Most notably the name for Mirror Lake 1 is now Mirror Pond and Mirror Lake 2 is now Mirror Lake. This will keep happening until all maps are just the way we like them!

  • AI boats! They only exist in GP mode. They are pretty simple for now but work well enough. More to come.

Visuals:

  • Underwater checkpoint visibility has been improved. In general, most objects are easier to spot underwater now.

  • Added water surface floating checkers to Starting and Finish lines. I'm only mentioning this because it looks neat.

  • Firework size and performance has been greatly improved.

  • Weather types like "Foggy" and "Thunderstorm" are less taxing on the GPU.

  • Added wings to every boat to better convey the real world physics that boat is experiencing. They do not apply drag or lift in or out of water. Purely cosmetic. More to come.

Side Notes:

  • The way levels are literally loaded have been coded differently and improved. Loading screens no longer totally freeze and then studder the moment the level loads.

  • Audio SFX have been expanded on.

  • Regions still need to be updated so some text may not be translated.

  • Began integrating Steam Online systems. Things like the players gamer tag and image are now visible.
