changedWho is Allen the AlienI’m really pleased with how his character translated to fighting gameplay. The team was able to make our resident orange muscle man feel hugely powerful while still leaving room for him to run his mouth. Of course, that's the most fun part for me and Helen in the writers’ room. There’s comedy running through the blood (and gore) of the entire Invincible IP, but it’s at the forefront with Allen which is a blast to write and record.
changedWho is Allen the AlienHis Ultimate showcases a great balance between his serious and decidedly non-serious sides, but my personal stupid favorite might be in his super 2, where he answers his own question, “Wanna see a great view? Getting punched is the price of admission!”
changedDesign and GameplayAllen is an incredibly powerful “Striker” Fighter who relies on his mobility, superhuman strength, grappling ability, and resilience to pressure to take down his opponents. I caught up with Thomas Rayne from the Quarter Up Combat Design team to learn more about Allen’s unique gameplay style.
changedDesign and Gameplay“Allen the Alien is a fan favorite cornerstone of the Invincible universe and properly adapting his kit was extremely important. If you're a fan of Allen, we hope you catch all of the familiar attacks and friendly cadences in his gameplay coupled with his immense power.
changedDesign and GameplayAllen exudes cheesy silver-age heroic energy, but he's more than just comic relief. He shows off his Unopan strength while taunting and dancing around his opponent and constantly tests the enemy to stay on their toes, baiting them in to challenge to see how strong they really are.
changedDesign and GameplayAllen’s powers fall in line closely with his Viltrumite peers doing a lot of punching and flying. It was important that despite being a superpowered striker, he felt distinct. To help achieve this, Allen utilizes his fists in a lot of creative ways. Slamming the ground to create shockwaves, spinning his arms around hitting multiple times, running forward with a lunging strike, or even leaping off the walls to get a jump on the opponents.

Who is Allen the Alien

Allen was born in a Unopan breeding facility, the sole success of a gambit to create a warrior strong enough to face a Viltrumite. But that weighty origin hasn’t stopped him from having fun! Allen serves the Coalition of Planets with pride and a sense of humor, becoming one of Invincible’s greatest allies in the fight against the Empire. And get this-- with every near-death experience Allen only seems to come back stronger! Neat, right?

Here's more from our Narrative Director, Mike Rogers.

“I’m just excited I can finally talk about Allen! Keeping him a secret was massively difficult—because how do you make an Invincible game without Allen the Alien??

Allen wants to be in your face and either apply pressure or bait you to hit his armored stance. He's a slippery striker that is clearly having fun with the battle. He offers a lot of high octane, high mobility and tricky gameplay allowing him to execute very flashy and creative combos ending with an iconic "Unopan Punch" across the screen or uppercutting the enemy up to the sky to heroically stomp them back down.

I love the vertical combos Allen can pull off using his aerial Urath Shaker special paired with his Rope A Dope special, as well as running after the enemy with Charge Stand Heavy after sending them across the stage with a Ground Skid. If you master his kit, you can send enemies far away and
