... the lord of magma, as he rises from the ashes.

Fed with rice and fruit, the seasonal harvests of entire villages, Buto would melt away for years in his bed of fire and magma. At times, he would roll from side to side or rise ever so slightly to see whether the propitiatory procession was making its way toward him with baskets of abundance. Each of his movements made the earth tremble.

But the eternal feast of Buto has ended. The Lord of Magma has risen. He now stands among the people, feeding on their fear, drawing their brittle bones into himself, sowing death.
