📢 Inquisitor Shepherd - May Devlog

Hello everyone,

This is NarrowDeep, the developer of Inquisitor Shepherd.

May has been a busy month for us, with Chapter 2 development, demo localization, and preparations for both domestic and international events all moving forward at the same time.

The new choice system introduced in our April devlog is now being implemented into the actual game, and the multilingual demo version is also nearing completion.

In this month’s devlog, we would like to share updates on Chapter 2, the new choice system, side story development, localization progress, and our upcoming event appearances in May.

🔔 May Development Highlights

  • Chapter 2 Development and New Choice System Implementation Chapter 2’s scenario development is nearing completion, and we are now implementing choices connected to the ‘Purity/Fracture’ system.

  • Side Stories in Development We are currently developing side stories that can be unlocked in certain situations, some of which are connected to the new alignment system.

  • Four-Language Demo Localization Nearing Completion Localization work for the Korean, English, Chinese, and Japanese demo versions is almost complete. Final review and QA are currently underway.

  • BitSummit PUNCH and PlayX4 Participation Inquisitor Shepherd will be showcased at BitSummit PUNCH in Kyoto, Japan, and at the PlayX4 B2B booth in Korea.

🎮 Detailed Development Progress

1. Chapter 2 Development and New Choice System Implementation

Development for Chapter 2 is currently progressing smoothly. The scenario is now nearing completion, and we are continuing development alongside the localization work for the four-language demo version.

This month, we worked on implementing the new system introduced in our previous devlog: the Purity and Fracture system.

Purity represents the path of becoming a powerful and noble messenger of God, following crium and eradicating heresy. Fracture represents the path of becoming a prophet who distrusts crium’s system and reality, seeking to forge a path toward the truth.

Steam post image Players will be able to influence Shepherd’s values by choosing certain opinions in specific choices. These changes will not simply alter a few lines of dialogue. They are designed to affect gameplay, deduction methods, and even access to certain scenes.

Some choices will only appear when a specific alignment is high enough. Depending on how players interpret the case and what kind of person Shepherd becomes, investigations and conversations may unfold in very different ways.

We hope you look forward to seeing how Shepherd’s beliefs and choices begin to take shape in Chapter 2.

2. Side Stories in Development

In connection with the alignment system mentioned above, certain situations during conversation segments may unlock side stories.

These side stories are not designed to directly alter the main storyline in a major way. Instead, they focus on character personality, relationships, humor, and the atmosphere of the world.

They will not be mandatory content, but for players who want to learn more about the characters and setting of Inquisitor Shepherd, they will offer meaningful additional context and rewards.

Some of the side stories currently in development are lighter and more playful in tone. For example, we are preparing a scene featuring a showdown between Fat Cat and Quack-Quack, offering a different kind of moment from the heavier atmosphere of the main story. In Chapter 2, players will not only experience tense investigations and interrogations, but also discover unexpected sides of the characters.

🌐 Four-Language Demo Localization

Steam post imageSteam post image

Localization work for the four-language demo version is nearly complete.

In addition to the previously available Korean and English versions, Chinese and Japanese localization work is now in its final stages. At the end of April, the Chinese version was showcased at an offline event in Shanghai hosted by our publisher, Neverland Entertainment, where we were able to receive direct feedback from players.

We are currently conducting the final review and QA for the Japanese version. Once this process is complete, we plan to update the demo version.

Since the game was originally developed with Korean and English in mind, adding new languages required more adjustments than expected. UI layout, fonts, line breaks, and the display of certain stylized text all needed improvements to properly support each language.

Through this localization process, we have also reorganized our internal structure so that future language updates can be handled more smoothly and reliably.

We will continue working to ensure that more players can experience Inquisitor Shepherd in their own language.

✨ Event Participation in May

1. BitSummit PUNCH

Inquisitor Shepherd will be showcased at BitSummit PUNCH, held in Kyoto, Japan from May 22 to May 24.

At the event, visitors will be able to try the demo version, and we are also preparing special goods for attendees. This will be a valuable opportunity to introduce Inquisitor Shepherd directly to players in Japan, and we are looking forward to receiving their feedback.

If you are attending BitSummit PUNCH, please come visit us.

2. PlayX4 B2B Booth

We will also be participating in the PlayX4 B2B booth at KINTEX in Ilsan, Korea from May 21 to May 24.

Visitors will be able to check out the new demo build, and we are preparing giveaways and goods as well. We hope this will be a meaningful opportunity to introduce the game to industry professionals and discuss future development and publishing opportunities.

✨ Closing Notes

As development progresses, our schedule continues to grow busier with both internal work and external events. Even so, each day has been exciting as Inquisitor Shepherd gradually moves toward a larger stage.

In April, we also held an online meeting with Tumblbug special reward backers to discuss the production of their exclusive rewards. The overall production plan has now been mostly prepared, and we hope to share more specific updates in the future.

With Chapter 2 development, multilingual localization, and event preparations all moving forward together, Inquisitor Shepherd continues to grow step by step.

We will keep doing our best to bring you more good news and a better game.

Thank you. NarrowDeep
