Hello, Steam users, nice to meet you! I’m Kazuhiro Tanaka, an indie game creator.

I’ve just published the Steam store page for my new horror adventure game, INORIGAMI HACK DOWN, and today’s first update adds a video and in-game screenshots.

Up to now, I’ve mainly developed games for smartphones, so I’m very excited about my first release for PC (Steam).

INORIGAMI HACK DOWN is a point-and-click horror escape adventure game set in a creepy house known as the “Sachibae House” (the House that supposedly brings happiness).

With a comic-inspired visual style, it tells the story of four men and women who answer an ominous part-time job posting — and the horrors they encounter there.

The core system follows the classic point-and-click adventure format, but one of this game’s defining features is its confrontations with supernatural entities.

In this game, these entities are treated like a kind of data that affects the human mind and body through perception.

You might want to say that supernatural phenomena — invisible occult beings — can’t possibly exist in reality… But in reality, we do suffer stress and damage from things that do not physically exist.

A clear example is social media posts.

They are nothing more than text data, and yet we are emotionally shaken by them, suffering stress and mental damage.

In other words, once we perceive something, we humans can be affected by it in both mind and body.

If you think about it that way, maybe we can’t completely deny the existence of supernatural entities after all.

So then, how do we fight them?

If it’s malicious data, rewrite it. That’s right — hacking!

These entities are data driven by resentment toward this world.

And if they resent this world that deeply, then they must carry some kind of trauma — a psychological vulnerability.

Just as you hack a computer by exploiting a vulnerability, you can hack a supernatural entity by exploiting its psychological weakness, infiltrate it, and rewrite its data from the inside.

This is the most distinctive element of the game.

In fact, I’ve been creating horror escape games since around 2010, when I released a horror escape game series for feature phones (flip phones) called Timed Escape Horror: Who-in.

Ever since then, I’ve pursued the thrill of “solving puzzles while fighting fear under a strict time limit.” For this new title, I wanted to create something more challenging — and more enjoyable for players — for modern PC gaming, so I adopted the theme of “Hacking × Supernatural Entities.”

I plan to pour all of my experience and ideas from years of horror game development into this project.

Right now, I’m developing the game at full speed for a release in 2026.

Going forward, through these Steam announcements (news posts), I plan to regularly share behind-the-scenes details such as the design process for the eerie Supernatural Entities, the mechanics of the hacking system, and test-play footage from development.

If the “Hacking × Supernatural Entities” concept of INORIGAMI HACK DOWN interests you even a little, I’d be very grateful if you would add it to your wishlist!

Wishlist additions are the single biggest source of motivation for an indie developer.

Thank you very much for your support of INORIGAMI HACK DOWN!
