The Story Behind the Outfit

"A Different Future"

Meghill rarely let his mind wander.

Too many responsibilities rested upon his shoulders. Ever since becoming the chieftain, he had seldom looked back on his childhood, and even less often spared time for his own life. Medael's transformation had become a secret he could share with no one. He resisted recalling anything connected to his sister, yet in the few dreams he still remembered, that familiar figure would always appear.

He could not bring himself to tell the friend who had saved the Boneyard that, when her music rang out during the Tide Sending Ceremony, a thought quietly began to spread through his mind:

What if... just what if, his sister had accepted that invitation all those years ago?

If she had become the Witness to that Tide Sending Ceremony, would everything have turned out differently?

The thought startled even himself.

As though something deep within him had been stirred awake, a long-buried memory suddenly rose from the recesses of his mind.

That day, Meghill had excitedly rushed home, only to find everyone gathered around Medael. Every face brimmed with a pride and joy they could hardly conceal.

"This is such an honor. We're so proud of you, Medael!"

Everyone said the same thing. Meghill wanted to ask what was going on, but he couldn't get a word in. Though his sister smiled, there was not the slightest trace of happiness in her eyes.

She isn't happy at all... is she?

The thought left him stunned. And by the time he looked at her again, she had carefully tucked her emotions away. Once more, she had become the Medael everyone knew.

Not long after, their grandmother told him the truth. Medael had been chosen to be a Witness. It was the highest honor among the Parksolians, proof that she was the pride of their people.

Meghill knew he should be happy for her.

Yet words of congratulations became stuck in his throat, refusing to leave his lips.

What happened afterward is common knowledge.

Medael refused the invitation. She rejected the glory and chose another path instead.

The memory ended there.

Meghill let out a bitter laugh. What point was there in dwelling on such things now? The Medael he once admired and longed for had disappeared long ago.

He refused to dwell on it anymore, answering his friend with restrained composure.

But the moment he saw the photograph in the pendant case, he collapsed.

Why?

Why, exactly?

The one who once staunchly believed in the meaning of reincarnation, who believed life would continue in endless cycles... why would she choose such a fate for herself?

If she had accepted that invitation...

If Medael had remained the Medael she once was, then perhaps he never would have become the chieftain of the Parksolians. Medael would have become the leader of their people, while he would have simply remained... Meghill.

The thought itself felt unbearably selfish.

Perhaps it wasn't about her turning down the invitation, after all. She had been driven forward by the hope of healing the Soulrift. Refusing to become a Witness had been a choice she made for herself.

Meghill gazed silently at the Medael in the photograph.

For a fleeting moment, it felt as though he had returned to his childhood, standing shoulder to shoulder beside her once more. She seemed taller than he remembered, her hair was longer. She put on the healer's robes, only to remove them again moments later. Finally, she raised her hood, transforming into someone... or something else, entirely.

The future of the Parksolians no longer belonged to her.

And yet, it was bound to her.

Finally, his vision came to rest on one last image:

Medael, dressed in the ceremonial robes of a Witness, smiling softly as she placed the Soul Ocarina in his hands.

"I found my path. As for the Parksolians' other future... I'll leave that to you."

The Inspiration Behind the Design

The inspiration behind "Soundless Dawn" draws from the image of a young Witness performing upon the harp during the Tide Sending Ceremony, offering familiar floral fragrances to soothe lost and wandering souls. The outfit's bodice represents the black cycle of reincarnation, while the golden flowers climbing upward from the hem symbolize hope. Ever since, at each Tide Sending Ceremony, those most gifted in sensing souls have been chosen to wear this outfit and perform the ritual's climactic melody.

Carried upon the harp's lingering notes, radiant golden thoughts drift toward distant horizons. It is a miracle bathed in gold: departure is not the end of life, but an extension of it. Though those who leave may fade from sight, they continue to live on within the memories and hearts of the Parksolians.

The Details Behind the Design

DRESS: HARMONY OF ALL SOULS

The dress's color palette is inspired by the emotions of farewell among the Parksolians—resembling a softly sung hymn, carrying subtle longing and remembrance without becoming heavy with sorrow.

The skirt design balances the solemn grandeur of the harp with a sense of light, upward movement. To achieve this, layers of sheer fabrics are combined with delicate floral accents scattered across the hem, enhancing a youthful and airy silhouette.

At the bodice, teardrop-shaped detailing references both falling droplets and harp strings, creating a restrained visual echo of the instrument central to the ceremony.

SHOES: FLOWER'S CHOICE

Life's cycles are often associated with the earth—where all things return to the embrace of soil, and from it, new life is born once more.

The design of the shoes evokes this quiet transformation: the moment the toes touch the ground, it is as if dormant life is gently awakened. It begins to rise, grows upward, and softly spreads across the earth.

HAIR ACCESSORY: UNPLAYED CODA

Delicate diamond chain strands woven through the hair resemble falling rain—each drop reflecting the cycle of life, where rain returns to the earth and, in turn, gives rise to small, colorful blooms.

The full ensemble reflects the Parksolians' remembrance of loved ones, while also expressing reverence and joy for the continuity of life itself. This balance of sorrow and celebration, memory and renewal, is carefully embedded within the design. Finely crafted details ensure the accessory blends seamlessly with the outfit. ARM DECORATION: KINDRED LIGHT

The arm decoration features layered floral and leaf motifs, designed to reinforce the solemn elegance of the harp while subtly shaping the garment's outer silhouette. At the same time, it complements the skirt's light, multi-layered sheer design, enhancing a refined sense of fluid movement.

Fine silver foil threads are woven into the fabric, while delicately curled edges provide understated texture and finish, without disrupting the overall harmony of the piece.

The Concept Behind the Ability

The concept behind the ability of "Soundless Dawn" is a poem carried by the wind—gentle, yet imbued with quiet strength.

With a light gesture from Nikki's fingertips, a droplet-like harp materializes in silence. As its notes ripple outward, small animals lower their guard and are gently drawn in by the melody, gathering peacefully around the harp to rest. The wind itself seems to slow in its passage, while the music falls like tender whispers, soothing every wandering heart.

Nikki can also perform alongside four musical spirits, weaving a composition of memories in unison. Within this harmony, the harp's resonant tones transcend the boundaries of time and space, drifting softly toward distant horizons.
