The Story Behind the Outfit

To Nikki, who's currently sleeping on my big, beautiful belly:

I'm so excited right now, I can't sleep! Every time I close my eyes, I think of your performance on stage in the Sea of Stars... You're always wondering what we might be doing in a parallel world. Funny, I never thought every version of you, across all those different worlds, would be thinking the same thing. And those thoughts became bubbles, each filled with precious memories, allowing us to meet and say what was in our hearts!

Hehe, I wonder if what you're thinking today will become a bubble, too. Where will it go? When will it get there? Will we meet it again someday? I can't be absolutely sure, so... I've decided to write down my thoughts and make them into a "bubble" that won't disappear, just for you!

First, I just want to say, I found a bubble, too. I caught a glimpse of what was inside it. There was heavy rain, and an image that looked very familiar. It was definitely when you and I first met! I still remember how cold and hungry I was. I thought for sure I was at the end of my rope. Then, when your hand reached out to me, offering me chips, I thought that I was hallucinating.

I often wonder what you were thinking when you heard me say that the chips weren't enough and I asked if you had any BBQ. Anyway, you managed to find me some delicious BBQ and even made me a cloak to keep me warm. The fabric was so soft, and it smelled like sunshine. Since then, it may have shrunk down in size, but I still have it somewhere kept safe.

And it wasn't just clothes, food, or a home. You gave me so much more than that. I still keep a whole stack of different colored candy wrappers in my private stash! When I saw your design sketches, I knew you must have been thinking about how we used to look at the world through candy wrappers when we were little. I remember it too. Even the white snow looked like strawberry-flavored shaved ice through those wrappers. Ever since you were little, you've had the ability to see the color, the bright side, of everything. Even the most ordinary objects sparkle in your eyes. As for me, I needed more than just a little help from those candy wrappers to keep up with you.

When we first arrived in Miraland, you were the one who showed me that this world wasn't just different, it was magical... and full of wonder. You're always talking about what it felt like the first time you used your floating ability, like you had turned into a bubble, ready to drift far, far away. Watching you get so excited, complimenting every Daisy and Woolfruit by the roadside, my worries slowly began to fade.

Slowly but surely, I've begun to love this journey too. I realized that even when things don't turn out the way we'd like them to, we always manage to learn something new or meet a new friend. And every time we make it to the other side, you smile and say that the detour was totally worth it.

Nikki, thank you for letting me experience this new world, bright and colorful as a bubble.

Now that I think about it, I'm really curious. What happened to the Nikki who used to steal candy and hiccup whenever she sang... when did she grow up? When did she become so brave? Do you think the answer is hidden inside those bubbles? Do you know when it happened? Back then, you were so scared of spiders that you refused to go in your room if one was in there. So how are you now running around with a net, catching Weavespiders?! I still haven't figured it out. But getting to stay by your side and watch you become this amazing person is the most precious gift you've ever given me.

But... when it comes to tomorrow, do we still have to grow up? Do we have to become more brave?

I know you don't want me to worry, but from what you said, I can already guess what was inside some of those bubbles. They were dark, cold memories. Tragedies from another world. Beautiful places turned to dust. Friends who once laughed with you, shared with you, traveled with you... now gone.

You tried to comfort me, saying that you learned from all those other versions of yourself. Learned from the moments when they shed tears, but got back up again. You said that even from watching your own moments of hardship, your times of pain, you gained the strength to keep on going.

I believe you. I really do. I always will. But my heart can't help but ache just thinking about it. If you were still that same child from so many years ago, and I could just stand in front of you, shielding you from all the pain that was yet to come... wouldn't that be nice?

Why do all these memories... happy and sad alike... turn into bubbles anyway?

Bubbles are so fragile. What if the nice ones float away and we never find them again? What if the bad ones pop, like they were never really there at all?

You said bubbles are fascinating. They're light enough to go anywhere. They turn the whole world into a dazzling array of colors. And even if they eventually burst... they still shined beautifully... if only for a moment.

You're right, of course. That, I can't deny.

Still... I put my stock in good old paper and ink. It's safer that way.

Anyhoo... after writing such a ridiculously long letter, I'm starving. I'm going to get something to eat. Preferably something involving BBQ... lots and lots of BBQ.

So, pinky swear you'll keep this safe, alright? That way, you can take it out at any time and remember this exact moment.

But you better not read it in front of me, and you can't read it out loud either. I'll know! Geeze, that would be so embarrassing.

DRESS: BREEZY FAIRYTALE

The dress evokes a soft, iridescent bubble, with its overall silhouette inspired by the very instant a bubble bursts. Its crystal-clear material echoes the texture and fluidity of bubbles, while rainbow colors ripple across the surface with every step.

The skirt layers water-like materials with shimmering effects to recreate the stacked texture of foam. Within the flowing trails of water lies the fleeting beauty of a bubble bursting in midair. Small fish and birds gather around the hem, moving with the current to heighten the dress's sense of motion.

BACKPIECE: SHIMMERING MOMENT

The backpiece is inspired by the instant light reflects across bubbles. Behind Nikki, sunlight refracts into the outline of wings, radiant and prism-like. Every play of light and shadow captures the sensation of "catching light," forming a luminous glow across her back, like the shifting light of an aurora.

HAIR: THROUGH THE FINGERS

HAIR ACCESSORY: SECRET HOURS

The hairstyle carries a "fluid, semi-transparent texture," as if each strand were gathered from clear stream water. Suspended in the air, the hair curls in natural arcs, charged with fluid tension. The ends taper into crystalline droplets, as though they might scatter at any moment, creating a delicate sense of weightlessness. A rippling, water-like sheen glimmers across the surface, reflecting the world around it while giving the hair a dewy, translucent, and refined finish.

The hair accessory is a crown cast from water, glowing softly in the dark. Under sunlight, rainbow colors diffuse through its cut patterns. This flowing crown enriches the overall silhouette while adding a touch of fantasy to the outfit.

When Nikki activates it, a radiant surge of water rises beneath her, lifting her toward the clear sky above. While on the water, every movement sets her skirt and hair drifting through light and shadow, as though she were performing on a stage all her own. Rewind draws inspiration from droplets pattering among branches after a summer rain. Nikki's Rewinds are just as light and lively as those droplets, leaving behind a bright, weightless ripple.
