Infinity Girl changes
After 3+ years of solo development, Infinity Girl's very first playtest is now live! I can't wait for you all to play the game -- its come a LONG way.
I can't stress this enough: your feedback is SO helpful at this stage of development, and a lot of it may make it into the final game (I've already implemented many of your ideas from the demo feedback into the alpha). After checking out the playtest, please let me know what you think in this short feedback form.
As a bonus, anybody who submits feedback via the form OR sends me a stream of them playing a run of Infinity Girl will be credited in the game as a playtester and be entered to win a $25 Steam gift cards as well! Just make sure to join the Infinity Girl discord so I can let you know if you've won (you'll also get access to future playtests first).
Here are the main features of the playtest, including a lot of new stuff that was not present in the demo:
🏃♀️ 30 abilities (up from around 12 in the demo) that add a lot more run variety. Some of my favorites include BOUNCY (which makes you, um, bouncy) and Quick Off the Blocks (which sends you blasting off the starting line at ridiculous speeds at the start of each level). Like with any good roguelike, there are some really fun and unexpected synergies between abilities to discover too. Even more abilities coming in the final game!
🔵 Quest for the Orb: a 15 level roguelike experience that is the heart of the game. Includes 3 unique biomes (forest, desert and space) all with procedural levels so that every run feels unique.
- ⛰️ Ascension ModeA new mode that scales up the difficulty every time you complete a run. Offers 10 increasingly difficult challenges at each ascension level. Currently only available for the desert biome but I'll be adding ascensions to the Quest for the Orb, Forest and Space biomes in the future.
🥁 The RHYTHM BUTTON (X/Mouse 1): Stay on beat by tapping the rhythm button to pick up more coins, use special abilities and more. Feels really satisfying to keep a rhythm streak going!
💻 MUCH better performance, particularly on the forest biome
💰 The Shop, where you can buy permanent upgrades between runs
🎖️ 9 different medals based on how quickly you make it through each stage (as well as medals for your overall run time)
🏆 Global leaderboards for individual levels and complete run times
🏎️ Much improved and tighter game feel, prioritizing speed and flow
🎮 Steam Deck support! Most levels run at 60 fps on the Deck🙂
There is a lot more planned for the game, including epic boss battles, more levels, more game modes, more characters with unique playstyles, more music and many more unique abilities. I'm currently leaning towards a Steam Early Access release later this year, after which I'll continue to add these new features to the game.
But we're now at a point where there is a good amount of content, its gotten a lot more fun and polished and you can get a sense of where the complete game is heading. Again, can't wait to hear what you all think! See you on the leaderboards😉
