addedThere is now a Performance build of the game which acts as a beta of sorts for these optimizations. Anyone that owns the game can opt into this and test it out. Many of the improvements are on the back-end, however there is a new feature under the Visual options called Culling Distance that will allow players to change the number of objects/NPCs on-screen. The default is 60 tiles, so please try the 20 and 40 options and let me know if this new feature makes the game better for you.
addedI've seen improvements from 4-5 FPS up to 120 FPS with this new feature alone! Please check it out and let me know what you think. You should be able to swap to this build and play with your current save files, but please please PLEASE back up your saves first just in case!

Hi all,

I've been working for many months now trying to make sure the game is well optimized as best I can, but some people still suffer from low framerate and stuttering, and I want to make that a non-issue as best as I can.

There is now a Performance build of the game which acts as a beta of sorts for these optimizations.

This is how you opt in. Just right-click the game in your library and go to the Properties.

This is the option in-game.

I've seen improvements from 4-5 FPS up to 120 FPS with this new feature alone! Please check it out and let me know what you think. You should be able to swap to this build and play with your current save files, but please please PLEASE back up your saves first just in case!
