changedThe game runs in a slim, transparent 1920×256 window docked to the bottom of your screen — right above the taskbar. You can scale it to whatever size feels comfortable. No fullscreen, no alt-tabbing. Glance down while you're working and your islanders are already out there — farming, chopping wood, casting lines. Come back from a meeting and there's fresh stock in the warehouse.
addedFive professions — farmer, woodcutter, fisherman, miner, and chef — each with their own workflow. The current build includes 32 crops, 21 types of fish, 29 minerals, 37 recipes, 6 livestock species, 30 craftable tools, and 16 building types — all still being balanced and expanded as development continues. Start with a single wheat field. Build out a full chain: harvest, process, cook, trade. Repair broken bridges and abandoned railways to open up new parts of the island. Over 200 items to discover.

Idyll Isle is a 2D idle island sim that lives on your desktop.

The game runs in a slim, transparent 1920×256 window docked to the bottom of your screen — right above the taskbar. You can scale it to whatever size feels comfortable. No fullscreen, no alt-tabbing. Glance down while you're working and your islanders are already out there — farming, chopping wood, casting lines. Come back from a meeting and there's fresh stock in the warehouse.

Five professions — farmer, woodcutter, fisherman, miner, and chef — each with their own workflow.

This is a solo-developed project. Time and hands are limited, so rough edges are expected, and I may not always be able to respond to feedback right away — but the work continues, and I'll keep at it.

What's in the Demo

The demo is available on Steam starting May 14. It covers the core loop on the starting island:

  • 3 recruitable islanders: Farmer, Woodcutter, Fisherman

  • 5 building types: Farmland, Storage, Well, Lakeside Fishing Spot, Simple Trading Post

  • 10 plantable crops: Wheat, Potato, Radish, Turnip, Carrot, Cabbage, Onion, Beetroot, Cai Xin, Corn

  • Guided tutorial: The Lighthouse Keeper walks you through the basics

  • Demo challenge: Race to 10,000 gold — results posted to the Steam leaderboard

  • 11 languages: English, 简体中文, 繁體中文, 日本語, 한국어, Deutsch, Français, Español, Português (BR), Русский, Italiano

Demo saves are fully isolated from the full release.

Note: The demo does not include achievements. The full release will feature Steam Achievements, fun challenges, and leaderboard-based events.

What's Been Happening Since the Store Page Went Live

Development has been moving steadily since late April. Here are some of the key updates:

New Features

  • Drift bottle system — bottles wash up on the beach with timed buffs inside

  • Tree planting — plant specific tree types across different island zones

  • Beach zone — coconut palms, coconuts, coconut lumber

  • Chef prep system — a slicing step before cooking

  • Underground minecart gameplay

  • Lighthouse upgrades

  • Echo Stele — a mysterious monument that holds fragments of the island's past and each islander's untold story, gradually revealed as you progress

  • Overseas merchants — as your horizon expands, distant islands come into view. New faces arrive with requests of their own, and in return, they bring rare gifts. They have their own stories, too

  • Ship crafting system (in progress)

  • Reworked food effects — each of the five professions now has unique, chance-based meal bonuses

Quality of Life

  • OLED burn-in protection

  • Auto frame-rate reduction when minimized or unfocused

  • Customizable boss key (instantly hides the game window — default F9, rebindable in settings)

  • Steam Cloud save conflict resolution

  • Multi-monitor display fixes

  • Adjusted early-game click pacing for trees and rocks

Localization

  • Full 11-language translation pass across all UI, tutorials, quests, and items

  • Font and layout adjustments tailored to each language

Localization Help Wanted

All 11 translations were done solo. Some languages haven't been reviewed by a native speaker yet. If you're a native speaker of any supported language and willing to help proofread or suggest improvements, I'd genuinely appreciate it. Drop a message in the community or DM me directly.

Art Credits

All in-game pixel art — characters, buildings, environments, animations, and UI — comes from licensed assets by talented itch.io creators:

Art: Otterisk / Atelier Pixerelia / Cyangmou / Clockwork Raven SFX: Epic Stock Media

Store page capsules, logo, and promotional illustrations were created with AI-assisted tools. These will be gradually replaced with hand-drawn versions down the line.

Community

If you run into bugs, have suggestions, or just want to talk about the game — come say hello. I'll be posting dev updates and responding to feedback as actively as I can.

Give it a try. Let me know what's off.
