Idle Hacking: An Inaction RPG changes
One Month of Hacking and Constant Updates
We're celebrating the 1-month anniversary of Idle Hacking's launch, starting at 16:00 UTC on April 18, 2026, and lasting until 16:00 UTC on April 20, 2026. During this time, all players will receive a 2x Item Rarity bonus and 50% reduced item enhancing costs. Supporter Recognition buffs will also be increased from 10 minutes to 15 minutes per key purchased during the Monthiversary.
Over the last month, the game has continued to receive constant updates, with only a few days being left out of the update cadence when a larger feature was being worked on that required slightly more time. We won't post the complete list of changes here (our Discord and in-game changelog has every small item), but here's a few of the larger updates that have happened over the first month.
Syndicate Armories have been added to allow player syndicates to donate gear that can then be borrowed by other members.
Syndicate Weekly contracts have been added as an additional boost to reputation (Syndicate experience) and a steady flow of additional Prestige upgrade points for Syndicates as leveling slows down.
Gear Sets were added, allowing players to save/load specific bonuses. Premium users have access to an automation system for changing gear based on specific conditions.
Auto-Joining of events was added as an added bonus to accounts with active premium time.
Community events now offer greater buffs to all players that are more strongly tied to the progress made by all players in the event.
Crafting costs were drastically reduced compared to launch, now using the required level to equip the item instead of the item level for cost scaling.
A "Last 10 Losses" feature was added and eventually updated to be a server-side tracked statistic that gives you full details of the final fight that ended your last streaks, along with XP/hr, Credits/hr, and Chips/hr that was earned during the streak.
Inventory upgrades were added for both free to play and premium players to expand beyond the initial 100 item limits. Additional changes were made with how Signature Epic drops are handled so they can overflow beyond your inventory limit instead of being potentially decompiled due to a full inventory.
Interface and Chat font scaling options were added beyond the default 'Ctrl +/Ctrl -' zooming.
New "Retro Desktop" themes were added based on Windows 95 and Windows XP styles.
Players who decided to focus on Gathering are able to equip items with their gathering level instead of Hacking level. While it's a niche playstyle, it is now more supported for those who wish to go with the more passive farming style instead of chasing combat stats for better hacking.
Our first holiday event for Easter introduced seasonal accolades for players to earn. These will be a recurring event every year so there's no explicit FOMO.
Roadmap was added identifying the target release date for our first major content update and the eventual introduction of Seasonal ladders for players who want enjoy chasing fresh leaderboards where everybody starts on equal footing.
Our first new hacking zone was added featuring some references to a classic 90s computer animated show.
An option to change the time your contract board (daily quests) reset was added to allow players to choose a time frame that better fits their timezone/schedule.
Hundreds of small QoL items, squashed bugs (generally just visual issues), and optimizations.
Looking Forward
Idle Hacking is designed to be a continually updated and evolving game. While some users found the launch overly simple, others have found significant depth in the item enhancement ("crafting") and combat systems, with the meta still shifting as the thousands of weekly active users continue to experiment. Over the coming months, additional systems are being worked on to allow more combat build upgrades and specialization beyond just the gear and item enhancing system.
The first major content drop is expected in Fall of this year. While new features are added every week, this will be closer to a mini-expansion, adding a roguelite dungeon crawling system with its own progression and specialization systems. At the same time, this content drop will include Syndicate Wars, which will be a competitive Syndicate vs Syndicate territory control battle.
The game will continue to be free forever, with premium support focused on QoL and not P2W features. This first major content drop will be accompanied by the first Seasonal Ladder, an opt-in system that will allow players to create a second character that starts fresh at the same time as everybody else. The months of balance changes and updates that happened before, plus the new systems added in the content update, will allow players to experience the game with a fresh economy, more balanced gameplay, and new meta knowledge that has been built up over the months leading up to the season.
